• A plane ride can be easy if you pack the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean pair of socks and a good read. • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some simple exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.

• First things first. Your travel documents and passport will need to be shown to security personnel. Keep them handy to avoid fumbling around for them.
