We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight as enjoyable as possible. Follow our top tips and you'll be zooming through airport security and having a ball in Fardsle in next to no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a comfortable experience if you've got all the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Next, make room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, aerosol cans and flares. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and objects that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and guns, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
