Stay there for a girls trip and it was just perfect. The building itself is so gorgeous in historic next to a beautiful park with a lot of open grass area where locals spend some time and sun bathe. The hotel offers one breakfast daily snack, snacks, and happy hour which is amazing. The staff were always friendly and attentive. Had a wonderful experience.

Our room was a disappointment: Wallpaper coming off walls, torn cushion on chair, toilet that kept running, tv remotes that did not work. That said, the location was fantastic! Easy to get everywhere. Apparently the building was the original Citadel, however there was no information on the history of it anywhere in the building and none of the staff (I asked 4 different people who worked the desk) knew anything about it. A missed opportunity to elevate a mediocre property in a historic town. Complimentary happy hour was a nice touch,

The only reason that this is not one star is because the staff during the breakfast every morning was fantastic. Otherwise housekeeping was truly a problem. For the entirety of our stay they did not clean our room nor did they offer fresh towels, water, coffee, etc. Also to end the stay on a very sour note, we left a laptop charger in the room and immediately notified both the front desk as well as the head of housekeeping (via voicemail) that the charger had been left and a number where I could be reached. as of today it is almost a week later and we still have not received at least a courtesy call back with an update on status.

Prior to arrival, I called twice because I needed to arrive a day early for work. Both times I was assured my reservation had been updated and that I was good to go. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I was told the exact opposite. Because I booked through Expedia, the front desk said there was nothing they could do, and I was forced to pay for an additional night out of pocket. This was frustrating and completely avoidable with accurate communication. The parking situation was another mess. We were told valet was $50 or we could self-park across the street — but no one mentioned that the garage was city parking with separate fees. When we parked there, the attendant was extremely rude and accused us of lying about being directed there by the hotel, saying we “obviously didn’t know what we were doing.” Not exactly the welcome you want after traveling. The room itself felt outdated, dark, and underwhelming. The only bright spot was the breakfast, which was actually very nice. Overall, the experience was frustrating and not what I expect from Embassy Suites.

This hotel is an absolute dump. It’s on its last legs. It’s obvious they haven’t done any maintenance or upgraded soft goods or furniture in years. And they’re incredibly nonchalant about it. Very aware of the difficulties with the rooms. Black mold, thread worn, carpets, dirty bathrooms, tiles falling off the wall walls ceilings falling in broken windows. When I spoke to the front desk, they said they’re not spending any money on the hotel because they’re getting ready to make it a curio collection by Hilton. But it’s obvious that the Bennett who owned the hotel built a luxury hotel next-door and just ignored this property for years. It’s a dump! Do not stay here. Do not stay here. Do not stay here unless you don’t care about your health. Toothpaste on the walls toothpaste on the floors fixture is falling out of the shower. It’s a mess!
