Upon arrival at the gueshouse (an hour early, our mistake), the door opened and we were faced with a rude, angry woman, whom we assumed was the host. She told us we could not come in and only after a bit of pleading, she allowed us to leave our luggage in the front entry. After speaking to a Carlisle business owner who was familiar with her, and looking up recent reviews, we decided to look for other accommodations. When checkin time arrived, we went back to the guesthouse, payed the host 1 nights lodging, gathered our luggage and headed to our new accommodation.

I spent one night travelling down from Scotland to the south of England. Room was lovely, very clean and very comfortable however on the second floor, 45 steps up, which I found a little disconcerting purely because I have asthma and was very out of breath once reaching the top ( maybe something to consider letting them know when booking). Unfortunately the TV in my room didn't work and one lamp light was out but the bed was comfortable and I slept really well. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from, coffee was pre-made and was rather cold.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Adele was friendly on our arrival. Room was clean. Bathroom down the hall was clean. Heating worked. Room servicing was good. Breakfast became unexpectedly unavailable but we found great food at a good price just down the road. Stairs are steep and narrow which could be an issue if you have mobility issues or over packed.

What a superb place. Lady that runs it is so knowledgeable about the local area and where to go and eat. She has taken great care of the building and it shows.
