Cannes Charm at Chanteclair

The Chanteclair must be unique. It sort of grows on you. The owner, Pacal, is charming. He makes his "zero star" rating a sales point. So, you have everything you need. It's clean, comfy, homely. Room 14 is quite small however the ensuite WC and shower is modern and more than adequate.Location..location..location: the Chanteclair nails it. The harbour/bus station and heavenly St. Antoine bakery plus the lively Cafe des Halles - very local patronage - are five minutes away on foot, yet the hotel is set in its own courtyard, away from any street noise, not that there's much of that. You meet Adam, Pascal's 3 month old French Bulldog. Even canine skeptics will be charmed by all this. We would stay here again, no sweat. Sadly, system would not let me add photos, including of the little dog, Adam.

This is without a doubt the worst hotel I have stayed in. The man at check in was friendly and that’s the ONLY positive experience. To even call it a hotel is a stretch, more of a backpackers hostel. The room was unhygienic and dirty, I had to look under the bed for something and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks…..dust, dirty tissues and sand. There are the squashed bodies of mosquitoes all over the walls and curtains and a generally very run down appearance. The shower was broken and dirty, the room was extremely hot and only a decrepit fan was provided which was also filthy. The bed was basic and uncomfortable with polyester sheets and the pillow inserts were so well used they were flat and such a worrying yellow and stained colour I had to wrap a towel around them before putting my head anywhere near. I was so uncomfortable, hot and unhappy here that after trying to sleep in the heat with mosquitoes buzzing around me for a few hours I gave up and left the hotel at 6am annoyed and exhausted. I would only recommend this place to someone I really don’t like and even then I’d feel bad about it.

Pleasant stay in the centre of Cannes

Very nice hotel close to the Palais des festivals, la Croisette and the station. Appreciated the welcome and the room. Would be even better to have the possibility of a late check out

Walkable from station and super close to all the sights of Cannes. Simple and basic but all I needed. Bed comfy. Excellent value for money considering location. Had a lovely courtyard though I didn’t get to use it as I was staying just one night. Check-in closes quite early at 8pm so make sure you contact if you’ll be late. Friendly and welcoming. Would certainly stay again if I visit Cannes.

Small budget hotel with Approx 12 rooms. If yr a light sleeper give this place a miss !! Every night you will hear the front door close, footsteps along the corridor, and keys rattling in an attempt by guests trying to open their respective doors. My stay was actually ruined no fault of the hotel, by inconsiderate inebriated patrons nightly returning to the hotel, slamming doors, and screaming loudly at each other 😠 Due to the size of the hotel, it was impossible to sleep thru these disturbances. As for my room, it was extremely small and basic, but nevertheless clean. The courtyard lacks in appeal, as it needs a good clean, and the stacked car tyres moving. All in all, not a good stay, but possibly no more than I should have expected when paying approximately £50 per nt to stay in Cannes.

Das Hotel liegt in einem ruhigen geschützten Innenhof. Der Chef ist sehr freundlich und steht für Fragen zur Verfügung, ganz oft auch außerhalb der angegebenen Zeiten. Man kann von fast ganz Cannes zu Fuß erreichen, die Innenstadt durchquert man in rund 20 min. Bei normalem Gehen. Das Zimmer war klein aber praktisch, es war frisch renoviert und das integrierte Bad sah sehr neu aus.
