The hotel has an area in the back where the beach is calm and we were able to get in the beach. Stayed at other hotels where we haven’t been able to enjoy the beach because it is too deep or waves are too strong. This is the first time we lasted out in the beach almost every day of how nice it was!!

I have traveled to Cancun through Expedia plenty of times, this time The customer service at this hotel was absolutely horrible. We had a few issues with the customer service, and when attempted to speak to the manager he was rude.

The only negative I have is with the "room service" it is very limited and what they did have was not great. All other food options, restaurants and café were amazjng.

The room was a disaster, dirty , had a leak from the ceiling that woke me up twice the first night. And handyman was send to our room in the middle of the night so he can fix the leak. The next day the toilet backed up also in the middle of the night had to have a handy man come out and fix it . It was the worst stay ever .

Beautiful views! Loved the nightly entertainment and music after the shows. Loved the beachfront property and all the pools! Not too far from outside shops, and there are taxi's ready right outside the hotel. But no need to ever leave the Riu grounds. Staff was great and always helpful. 👌

Beautiful property but the rooms/lobby need to be updated. The beds we not comfortable and the water pressure in the rooms could have been better. However, the service was amazing and staff members always would greet us with a smile. The whole resort was clean, I felt like they had a great system in place for their daily cleaning of the entire resort. They raked the beach every morning too, it made for a beautiful beach experience. Excellent entree options at the restaurants, the buffets had a great variety!

The rooms are old and out dated. Also I thought I would have access to the adults only RIU right next door and did not. That hotel appeared to be cleaner and more up to date.

Our first impression at check-in was how friendly and welcoming the staff was, and that never faltered during our 5 night 6 day stay. Think about that - thousands of guests and they treat every one of us like friends visiting. The room was very clean and we had a beautiful view of the grounds, pool, and ocean from out Junior suite on the 7th floor. It felt modern except for the TV (go to the beach or pool, don't stay in watching TV!). The power outlets were a little loose so it was sometimes hard to get electronics to charge - the plugs would almost fall out. The room had full bottles of tequila, rum, gin, and vodka on tap, and the mini fridge was stocked with water, beer, and soft drinks. The grounds are beautifully maintained and we truly felt we were in paradise. The buffet food is not great, we often were uninterested in finishing our plates. The restaurants were much better, we settled into eating dinner at the restaurants instead of the buffets. We really liked the Mexican themed restaurant Tamales. That was the best food we had. The cleaners left our room immaculate and would leave us surpises on the bed when they were done 😁 We loved our stay and definitely would come back to this resort next time but we might also try another Riu resort because this one impressed us so much.

Just came from Riu Peninsula in April. Stayed for 10 days. Unfortunately this was one of the worst ones out of the four i stayed at. Even though its considered somewhat newer, everything was in poor condition. The bed sheets were all in stains here and there. The shower flooded. But the worst was customer service. Front dest staff was never helpful, and never provided any courtesy information. Because of that i missed my shuttle heading back home. If you don't tip after each service they ignore you. Entertainment was horrible, they just send you next door to Riu Caribe. I will not be coming back to this Riu. The beach was very nice. Beautiful white sand, water nice and calm. Perfect for kids. The pool was also not too bad, even though it was pretty busy, the pool was never crowded. But might as well go to Riu Caribe next door, it was just rebuilt and offers everything just like this one.

Pros: 1. Beach area is perfect. 2. Staff is kind and friendly. Cons: 1. Rooms need renovation 2. Beds are too small, double size, not queen 3. Restrooms are disgusting and smells really bad even though the stuff was cleaning every 30 minutes, but they definitely should use glade or something to get rid off that smell. Also for this size of the hotel they need more restrooms. 4. Too complicated to get the beach towels, you have to use cards and then return. 5. Meals are not enough seasoned, food is okauy, but not good. 6. Restaurants, first come first serve, but you should always wait an hour or more. 7. Restaurants are too small and it’s so loud, also they don’t have a restroom in there and you should go to the lobby or outside. 8. Check in was so long and we waited for our rooms to be ready for an hour, also they lied that we got upgraded. All rooms are the same.

First of all , thanks to Javier who met first. he was welcoming, helpful and shared all the information at the desk. Restaurants are delicious and good enough for the toddler. Maybe just needed some slide or swing for the little ones. Beach was clean and good enough for the kids as well. Some part of the beach is getting less wind so makes it better. Separated pools are perfect for the families and adults. Rooms interior are little bit outdated but Hotel's interior and exterior are look new and clean.
