Hotel has a good location and much character as a mid 1930s building, with a wonderful roof terrace where breakfast is served. Bedrooms are basic, bathroom was functional, and the bedroom had a fridge which is useful. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Interesting hotel built in 1935 and still has many of the features from that time. All the staff were absolutely wonderful. We had the romantic top floor room with a little garden and loved the privacy. Bathroom was a little dated but everything worked fine.
Loved roof top restaurant and bar. Staff amazing. Great location for sightseeing

The hotel is a tired old beauty. A little rough around the edges but a classic old hotel with its open elevator to the rooftop restaurant. The staff is friendly and courteous. Take the rooftop garden suite for an incredible stay :)
The hotel is full of charm and original wooden panelling. I loved it. Like stepping back in time. The bedroom furniture was a bit disappointing but the rest of the hotel made up for that. From the period elevator to the lovely rooftop bar/restaurant, there was something to look at. No bland, corporate walls in sight. The staff were lovely. Staying here is a taste of the glory days of travel in the early 20th century.

Beautiful old furniture
Nice old hotel with beautiful furniture! Bathroom box very small and water splashes everywhere. TV only local channels. Located at dirty area. Breakfast very basic! Front desk very friendly!
The Carlton is a great hotel located in central Cairo, with a metro station immediately in front of it, which makes exploring the city very convenient. The staff at the hotel were all extremely friendly, polite, and accommodating. For example, when I arrived early in the morning, Ramon arranged for an early check in as he realised I was tired from travel. Amr Gaber, who serves the breakfast on the rooftop terrace, served me breakfast after the official end time as he did not want me to leave the hotel hungry. The hotel has a historic charm, with very clean rooms (I stayed twice at the Carlton and had two rooms during my holiday) and working AC, great value for money. The rooftop is a highlight of the hotel, with food, shisha and alcoholic beverages available overlooking central Cairo. The staff really were all extremely friendly, and allowed me to store my bags at the hotel after checking out so I could explore the city without being burdened by a suitcase before my onwards travel. I highly recommend the Carlton and will stay here again on my next trip to Cairo.

Very good location one block from Nasser Metro so very easy to reach most points of interest. Hotel fixtures are not up to date--old style room keys required a bit of patience. But room was perfectly fine, and rooftop lounge was a pleasant place for breakfast. All staff very comfortable. If modern western fixtures aren't critical to you, Carleton offers very good value
The hotel staff and location are great, but the room key is hard to open, the bathroom door doesn't open after it's been closed, the air conditioner doesn't work, and the Wifi isn't working.
Is it just my room?
I will come back to this hotel again during my stay in Cairo.
I am very excited but a little nervous. The hotel is very antique and the elevator is amazing!!

The hotel is great. Authentic and a great roof terrace restaurant. Rooms and staff good. Only negative is the bathroom.
The Hotel is a Gem! Frozen in 30 to 1950th style you can stay in the past. The Breakfast at the rooftop is mesmerising, the staff is doing sonwell you cant barely find some equivalent. Around the Corner younwill find the shoe manufacturer Babel, Ihighly recommend, the Swiss restaurant, which inlove and serve famous swiss local dishes. The traffic is a little rushing, but to get a real royal Cairo experience - do it!

Quality price ratio is very high, in the heart of the city,
Hotel was horribly substandard. Sign in restroom "Do not flush toilet paper!" Bugs, very dimly lit, many other problems. Only stayed first night because it was so late. We need a refund of 5 nights stay.

The hotel has a rustic charm. They clean it well, but it felt like parts of the room could use a bit of an update. We had a room facing the street where we could hear music from businesses below, but it didn't keep us up at night.
Amazing art deco hotel with rooftop bar/restaurant. Even a pool table. bars are rare in Cairo so you will love having a safe place overlooking the city to have a drink.
Kamer was schoon de badkamer klein maar prima en schoon.
Elke.dag een schoon bed en achone handdoeken
Niks was te veel, er zijn 2 soorten ontbijt en beide prima
