Dover Beach Hotel

6/10 Okay

"I think the first day set the experience in a negative and was hard to bounce back from. I chose this hotel to stay at for my birthday. Upon arrival we were taken to a room that honestly should not be rented out as a part of this hotel at this time. The space is still clearly being transitioned from apartments and does not give any sense of relaxation. . The room is extremely small with very little walking space. The doors are rusted and I would not use the kitchen. This is their kitchenette option. I do not recommend. However, on top of that, there was one bed instead of the two that I requested. My husband, who was not traveling with me, called to have a birthday surprise set up for me. When we had our room changed, we were told that we couldn’t either have the things that he paid for moved with us nor could we receive a refund. That was quite unprofessional. The gentleman who was working Security and helping us with our bags, Uri was extremely kind and helpful. So five stars to him. Five stars to Kurt as well. The front desk staff is hit or miss. The bar/restaurant staff was nice. When we did get into a different room, that room was nice as well. Their main pool needs cleaning and updating but the secondary pool is nice. The hotel is actually not on the beach either. Just a barrier to rocks. You have to walk through a sand alley or a gate and leave the secure hotel area to enter the beach area where hotel staff cannot see you. With a different day 1, I might have returned"

"Reception was terrible they never explained anything about the resort tell us about our VIP check in and the perks. Concierge Chantal was amazing! The other staff were amazing except one at The Village Coffee shop didn’t let me have 1/2 of one flavor and 1/2 of the other flavor was rude.. The bed was like a rock and pillows horrible they needed to upgraded and get new mattress and pillows.. The food at the resort was super expensive ridiculous as was the coffee and the Village Cafe… It was worse than being in Paris or Monaco… We won’t be back too expensive of an island.."

"Hébergement sous forme de suite avec kitchenette, tout équipée, endroit sécuritaire et très propre. Le personnel était agréable et accueillant. Le remplacement des serviettes se faisait chaque jour, accessibilité à des serviettes de plage à l’aide de carte remise par le Resort. Il y a 3 piscines, jardin, endroit de jeux pour les enfants, salle de gym… L’endroit est beau, dans un quartier animé en soirée, des petits commerces sont disponibles, des restaurants également. L’hôtel n’offre pas la possibilité d’un tout inclus, mais il y a des restaurants qui servent le petit déjeuner, le dîner et le souper, paiement à moyen de cartes seulement aucun cash n’est accepté par le Resort. La seule chose à laquelle je ne m’y attendais pas, ce fut la plage qui n’est pas très praticable, il fallait se déplacer aux alentours comme à Bridgetown pour avoir accès de meilleures plages avec eaux turquoises. Il y a des frais pour cela mais ce n’est pas cher avec les commodités offertes."

Sugar Bay Barbados - All Inclusive

"It’s a beautiful boutique hotel and very well maintained. The staff was not informative at all upon arrival. We were not provided a map or direction of where anything was. Things were not explained. There are only two specialty restaurants and you are only able to eat at one every 3 days or you will have to pay $30 per person to eat at the restaurant. Theres only one restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner and the option are limited therefore if you are a picky eater, this place is not for you. The other two restaurants in the property only serve lunch."

"It was a lovely, quiet adult hotel on the south coast. The only thing that was loud was the ocean waves. Sitting in our own personal hot tub on our porch and looking out at the sea was so peaceful. The food was great with a menu from a different part of the world each night. The sargassum seaweed is unfortunately on the south and east coast of the island. This is no fault of the resort and an issue across the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico and tropical Atlantic. If you want to go to the beach just sign up for a free shuttle to go to the sister Accra resort further up the coast for the day."
