Quick Stopover
Quick stopover enroute to another destination. Clean comfortable had everything required but don’t expect luxury. Very happy with accommodation for the price 😊
Castle Lodge, I was in room 1. it was a nice hotel. I recommend it to stay there.
The people the owners was very nice and made me feel welcome. I would stay there again.
The breakfast was okay and offered me a pack lunch to take with me because I had a long way to go. I would recommend four stars.⭐ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great stay at the castle hotel, staff very friendly and the room was lovely, we would definitely stay here again. The manager was very friendly and saw to our every need, even when I managed to pay for the room twice as I didn't know hotels.com had already taken the payment, he refunded the overpayment immediately.

I have dogs, this is one of the best pet friendly hotels I've stayed at. Friendly, helpful staff, nice curry house just along the road and a short drive to the Parkrun I was taking part in. Thanks 😊

A large experience in a small hotel
Nice clean room in the hotel, great welcome from manager, good food after arriving and checking in. Lola our dog was well looked after too. Nice shower in the bathroom, good facilities in the room.
Very friendly and helpful staff; the rooms are very comfortable and quiet. There's a nice bar and restaurant for evening meals (fish and chips is quite good). Breakfast is continental, but there is a nice variety of cereals and toast and other items. The internet was quite good, by British standards.

Good service, but ok overall
The service was great, and Ray was the perfect host but the cleanliness let the hotel down. All the essentials were clean - bath, sink and bedding so that was good, but the floor in the bathroom hadn’t been hovered so was quite hairy, and there were some windows in the communal areas that were a bit mouldy.
Staff were nice but the accommodation is very tired and in need of modernisation.
We had tea making facilities… but no mugs, and an ironing board but no iron. It was very noisy, and after a long days travel we just wanted to get a good nights sleep. On the plus side although very tired the shower rooms were spotless. We were only there for one night, and probably would not have stayed more if were were booked for longer.
The staff were nice enough on arrival, showed us to our room and we left for wedding. We didn't come back until midnight and the smell of musty damp was present.
The kitchenette units were full of crumbs, there were cobwebs and spiders above the one single bed which we had to get rid of before sleeping.
The sink in the one bathroom fills water and takes a while to go down.
We returned the keys this morning and no mention of breakfast (which i later seen was meant to be included)
Was ok, in need of a good revamp.
The man in charge was very nice indeed, There is free parking which is a bonus. Coffee at breakfast was nice.
There is no restaurant, no cooked breakfast, no manned bar (although there is an honesty bar).
It is thoroughly basic throughout.
I wouldn't say it's dirty as such, but there is a doggy smell and it certainly feels like a deep clean is required, especially upstairs in the bedrooms.
But the most amusing part was that because I was a single person staying in a double room, my second pillow, other towels and even the second mug were removed! In all my years of staying in hotels, I've never seen that!
