"We arrived about 3pm and were met by a cheerful lady who welcomed us and showed us our rooms.
The rooms were clean and tidy and totally adequate for what we wanted and expected.
All the amenities worked and it all smelt fresh.
We got freshened up, had a walk around the village (Stunning views) then came back to eat at the hotel. The place was starting to fill up a bit by 6pm and we chose our meals from the varied and traditional menu. The meal arrived without too much of a wait and it was piping hot and full of flavour, the portions were a good size and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
It was a Saturday and the bar was buzzing, friendly happy people, a great atmosphere. There was a good selection of beers and spirits and the ales were excellent and well kept.
All round, a really good place to stay and I would totally recommend it, it was just a shame we were only staying the one night.
I nearly forgot the breakfast.... Don't you forget the breakfast... again it was excellent. A continental breakfast is included in the room price but we all opted for the full English and every part of it was cooked to perfection... Brilliant.
In summary, don't hesitate to stay at the Y Pengwern, you will not be dissapointed.
We will certainly going back, if we get the chance.
Thank you to all the staff.... Excellent."
"The hotel is in a lovely location in the centre of Criccieth. An easy walk to both the castle and the David Lloyd George museum, home and grave. We had no trouble finding a parking slot in their free car park. Very comfortable bed. Best chips ever with our evening meal! Good hot and cold buffet breakfast, with toast made to order. Staff were all welcoming and helpful.
It took us while to find room 37. Followed signs up and down a long corridor and finally found it on another level, through fire doors and down a few steps!
I'd have no hesitation staying at The Lion again."
"This hotel is a nice, but somewhat basic accommodation. It is very close to the university and the centre of Bangor, which is very helpful. The staff, however, were very helpful and considerate. The restaurant staff were welcoming although I got there only 10 minutes before they were shutting. Likewise, at breakfast, they were attentive and helpful. I would recommend this hotel because of the staff"
"This was a good hotel but not great. Room was large but beds not comfortable and shower flooded the bathroom.
Dinner in pub was good. Limited parking available"
"Excellent stay! The parking was a huge plus and especially important as my husband was travelling by motorbike. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good, and we also had a delicious evening meal from the bar. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. Thank you – we would happily stay again!"
"Check in was fast and efficient. The room was clean, although it only had a small window there was a door to the courtyard we could open. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The shower was fine and there was a good beverage tray with biscuits. Breakfast was quite chaotic with food not being replenished and tables not being cleared and cleaned. However the cooked breakfast was tasty."
"Overnight stay . Staff very welcoming and friendly , and informative about Hotel and surrounding area . Did not actually stay in the Hotel but in one of the lodges behind Hotel which is ground floor level . Bathroom exceptionally clean . Bedroom clean and would benefit an upgrade . Anxious about leaving window open overnight as on ground level so felt quite stuffy at night . Full WelshBreakfast very good and served hot . Staff very pleasant . Free Good parking facilities overnight . Enjoyed our stay ."
