Staff were fantastic. We stayed during the hottest weekend on record and although the A/C struggled it did keep the room temperature comfortable. Bar staff were extremely friendly.

This property is in a good location, clean, nice, breakfast is standard German buffet. Lots of attractions and restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and I thank them for their professionalism. But the reason I did not give this property a full star review is for the following reason. Crisis control. It happens. A so called “black swan event”. Not one but many. Finding a painter sitting on your bed while in the middle of a reno when you swipe your card to enter a cavernous room smelling of fresh paint is not cool. I of course complained at the desk and they reassigned me to another room available in a few hours. When I went to the restroom a half-naked guy ran into a stall filled with toilet paper and puked. It’s ok, it’s central Berlin after all. Eventually, I got a very nice room on the 6th floor. Enjoyed it until their only elevator stopped working for a couple of days. These things happen in cheap hotels. But I expected extra perks or some compensation for the price I paid. As I said, the staff was very nice and helpful and I do not blame them for what happened.
