We stayed for 2 nights recently the place is fabulous amazing room we had the food was lovely friendly helpful staff would give it all 10 out 10 would thoroughly recommend best place we have stayed in for a long time
It is a quirky place. Looks very plain from the front but was a lovely place to stay. Great service from arrival to departure. Food was superb. After checking out we were on our way to Sunderland when we realised we hadn't tipped the staff so, we turned back and did so. That's how good it was. Will definitely return.
Stayed here for a wedding in nearby Morpeth and was well impressed. The owner and her family were superb hosts, and nothing wax too much trouble. Breakfast superb, rooms clean and comfy, and 72 free parking round the back of the property make it a great base for a long weekend to explore the area.
Would happily return!

Excellent
Quirky hotel with lots of character. Lovely friendly staff. Excellent food
Lovely staff, helpful and friendly. Food excellant. Room not overly clean, found items on the floor, old building and windows don’t open much, very hot and no fan
Genuinely such a nice hotel, VERY reasonably priced and I cannot complain at all. The food was great, service was fantastic and the overall appearance of the hotel was incredible. My Mrs and I absolutely loved our stay at laird's house and are planning on going back again at some point in the near future.
All staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful, I'd booked an attic room but seeing my husband on crutches they immediately swapped us into a first floor room which I think was an upgrade as it had a huge freestanding copper bath and Chesterfield sofa as well as a king (or maybe super king) sized bed. Despite the room not having been planned for use, everything was clean and fully stocked which was impressive. Bed extremely comfy, didn't want to leave! Breakfast being included was great, good choice of hot food options plus offered hot drinks, juices and water; everything was fresh and delicious. We'll be back as hadn't realised they stopped serving food at 5pm on a Sunday so didn't get to try the pheasant dish from their weekly specials menu I'd been looking forward to but ideally placed for other restaurants, pubs and bars (would The Hoptimist next door for craft ale and very friendly service)
Stayed here a couple of times and there is a lovely vibe. The rooms are an absolute electric mix of modern and antiques, beds are comfy and there is plenty of space. All rooms are very different so if you want a bath or shower in particular, make sure you check the details.
Food in the pub is amazing, staff are very welcoming and the chef accommodated my dietary request without hesitation.
Had another lovely stay with my Bedlington terrier Squirrel. In room 10. Wonderful beds and roll top baths. A gorgeous evening meal & tasty breakfast. Will be back.
The place itself was antiquated with so much character, comfortable and a fabulous size room. Our family of 3 was warmly welcomed and we felt comfortable and settled. The only negative was the TV, there were not terrestrial channels as it said no signal and to try bbc iplayer instead was painful as every couple of seconds the programme on would pause and buffer. That definitely needs improving. Breakfast was lovely though there were no options of cereal, porridge or croissants it was only fried breakfast or toast options but yummy all the same if that's what you fancied.
