I recently stayed at Kimon Hotel in Athens and wanted to share a few important points for fellow travelers. First, there is no elevator in the building. We were placed on the third floor, and getting there required climbing steep stairs and walking across a rooftop patio — not ideal when carrying large suitcases.
The room was a bit dated, but it was spacious and reasonably priced. That said, there was an ant infestation in the bathroom. The ants got into our toiletry items, which was unpleasant. I wish I had taken a photo to document it, but it was definitely a problem.
One of the more surprising aspects of the stay was the absence of a 24/7 front desk or concierge. It felt more like an Airbnb setup than a proper hotel. On top of that, we didn’t receive any room cleaning or housekeeping during our three-night stay. Unless you place a "Do Not Disturb" sign, the assumption should be that rooms will be cleaned daily — that didn’t happen, and no one followed up.
While the location is central and the price was fair, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. Between the accessibility challenges, lack of basic hotel services, cleanliness concerns, and limited staff presence, I would likely not stay at Kimon Hotel again.
