"Excellent little cabin, 5 minutes from the beach. Plenty of space for two with comfy chairs and kitchen area to prepare simple meals. Easy parking on the road at the front. Highly recommend walking the coastal path to Whitstable in one direction, Reculver then Margate in the other direction and fossil hunting right on the beach below the cabin at Beltinge. We also added a day at Elmley Nature Reserve so all in all a perfect winter break!"

"very close to the beach, just over the road, its better less stony if you walk about 10 mins to the right, about 5 min walk to reception, lodge is located in a quiet park of the park, I always take a tv as my son is socially anxious, and didnt leave the lodge at all, until we left, I felt it would of been useful to have a tv in the double room, as my son took over the only tv, with his xbox, and i got sent to my room, to watch tv, it was nice having the decking outside, could do with outdoor...

"Great hotel to stay in before a cruise from Dover. Slight mixup with the booking which Lily resolved professionally and quickly. Being able to book and pay for a cab at the hotel was very useful. Good was excellent at the restaurant and the cafe."

"So much could have been easily so much better! Disappointing right from arrival and we’re told maintenance were still in our room. Not help by the duty manager informing us they had to sort things because VIP guests were arriving the following day! Made us feel really valued as guests. Room was fine but warm. Decent bedding and lovely spacious bathroom. Downstairs bar was stuffy with smelly stale air. Really needed windows to be opened! Breakfast was poor. Mini fridge contains fruit and yogurt pots with soggy granola. Coffee machine provided weak coffee. Hot buffet food was poor quality with cheap supermarket sliced bread. I did ask for fresh plain yogurt and that came so I was able to have that with honey. Staff need to be encouraged to make guests feel welcome not hindrances and use please and thank you!"

"Such a beautiful building very very poorly maintained the first room we were in had plaster falling from the wall and smashed tiles in the bathroom. They changed our room and that was much nicer but still poorly maintained. The gardens are amazing and very well maintained! The bar staff didn’t know what drinks were (aperol) and was only saved by a very nice F&B manager! Dinner was great however breakfast was terrible with a long queue after being told to book for 09.30 we stood in line for 20 mins and no table was available then no pastries at all and asked if I would like toast after my breakfast arrived. Reception was not manned in the morning and the person manning reception when he had clearly returned from his cigarette wasn’t helpful at all! In summary a lovely location building and grounds with some to the worst Maintenece I’ve seen in years and I travel globally every week and totally understaffed with the trained and the untrained!!"

"All the staff were helpful The Breakfast area has a gluten free station with bread rolls etc and a designated toaster Shame they don’t get their sausages from Tesco as they are GF but they cooked me veggie ones instead which was lovely. The food on the Restaurant was amazing - I’m not usually one to rave over food but the Sea Bass meal was delicious Was unaware I had to pay £6 to park which I felt was a bit steep on top of the room"

Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel

8/10 Good

"The hotel stands in its own grounds just of the M20 junction. It is large hotel with three floors and long corridors. Checkin went ok and we were allocated a third floor room overlooking the old tennis court (now used a truck park). The room is a little dated but functional. The shower worked ok inside a bathtub. There is no Aircon however as we stayed in a cool period, the windows gave adequate ventilation. The beds were firm and comfortable. The resturant provides a good Breakfast for £12 /head with a bar next door. We attended an event in the adjacent function room which was well organised. The leasure facilites are good with a large swiming pool, hot tub and steam room. Overall I would rate this mid 3 star hotel."
