This hotel is in an amazing location, close to the national parks and outside of the city. They offer wonderful opportunities to tour the grounds with local guides who are very knowledgable about the flora and fauna. We were able to see and learn about many plants and trees, as well as animals large and small, and many species of birds. This was a very nice complement to our self-guided hike in Soberanía National Park (with transportation to the Plantation trail provided by the Hotel). The hotel also has an on-site rehabilitation center for animals including sloths, but it was not occupied during our stay. We were able to see various species of butterflies and frogs. They have two nice pools and many chairs, but few loungers. as well as a workout gym (unfortunately without a working A/C when we were there). The bar was good, but no frills. The rooms were very outdated with very firm pillows that made it hard to sleep comfortably. The service was marginal (had to ask in person for towels and hangers three times over a 7-hour time span before request was partially fulfilled, no room cleaning until requested, bathroom smelled of sewage). Staff were mostly friendly. Breakfast buffet was great, but dinner menu was a little limited for vegetarians, particularly if staying for more than a couple nights. Again, the main draw is the location,

You basically get what you pay for with this property. The property is located about 10 to 15 minutes from the nearest town. It has not aged well as poor maintenance has resulted in a dated appearance. It must have been pretty spectacular when it was newly constructed (some 25 years ago). The staff on site were nice enough, however, phone contact was impossible. The desks were unmanned after 9pm so good luck if you need something. Now the room was spacious with cold AC and hot showers with great water pressure…the bed, however, was rough, to say the least. The bed had sinkholes and when we

The staff are amazing and the cleaning staff do a super human job. They are let down by poor maintenance and lazy reactions to complaints and about maintenance issues. What a pity! The hotel is in need of major refurbishment, however they seem to be getting their revenue as an event location (parties and weddings etc) this makes for loud noise for guests and along with noisy aircon, leaking taps, etc it seems the service from their lowest paid staff carry the hotel forward.. how sad

I'm an Electrician and was surprised at the crappy install of electrical receptacles... gaps between cover plate and wall and crooked. Major eyesore. Sancocho and chicken fingers were amazing. Some items at breakfast buffet were cold but should have been warm/hot. Scrambled eggs were cold and sitting in water. Omelet station and coffee were amazing. We are in Costa Rica now and I'm really missing their coffee 😢 The sea bass was incredible! Staff is mostly Spanish. Download spanish on your google translate app. Best English speaking was front desk. Everyone else is unapologetically Spanish. Pools were great.

We had an amazing stay at this property. They were friendly and helpful and we had Carlos take us on a golf cart sunset tour on the property and he spotted everything that we could hope to see. Very knowledgeable. And then we had a different gentleman, and I can’t remember his name, do the butterfly and frog walking tour in the morning, and although he could not speak English, we used AI translation and everything was perfect perfectly fine. It was a fantastic tour and he was very knowledgeable and took his time explaining everything. We also were able to see many of the things we sought out. The food in the restaurant was amazing. The pools were warm and clean. Everyone was very friendly.

Everyone was welcoming. We wished to have supper under the stars and that was accomplished. It was almost closing time when we arrived. I was served a massive tasty hamburger. Biggest I've ever seen. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. The coffee was delicious.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, YOU MAY SHOW UP TO A CANCELLED RESERVATION. I booked this hotel since a good friend of mine was getting married and the reception was at this hotel, that way I could enjoy myself without the need of having to worry about driving afterwards. When I arrived to the hotel, the receptionist informed me that my reservation had been cancelled because of a leak on the floor my room was supposed to be and that they had rebooked me to a Holiday Inn 15 minutes away. My first complaint to them was: how come no one made me aware of the situation before I arrived? To this they claimed they had no way to communicate with me since I made my reservation through Expedia. At the point of my arrival, I was left with the only option to take the room at the Holiday Inn the reserved for us, not only I was kicked out of the hotel, but I also had to give the other hotel my credit card so they could place a hold on it, they did not bother having someone there from Summit to take care of this. At the wedding reception, I came to find out that several guests were accommodated the same day at 2pm (One hour before my check-in). Coincidentally, some rooms were released and given to wedding party guests (note I booked my room on my own and not as a block), so I am left to think the floor leak story is totally false, since there were other rooms they could have given me. Book at your own risk and pray there aren't that many weddings booked for those nights.

Really neat location and would go back soley based on the outdoor activities but the place was a bit unorganized and cleanliness and upkeep were not the best. It was still good though. I would not avoid it, just manage some expectations and then have a great time :) The animal refuge and butterfly tour are well worth every minute
