The hostel deliver the purpose (possibly as it was designed for concept) however, was not the usual experience I am used to have and fall short on my expectations. - worth to mention and important the staff were all respectful and friendly all time.

Well, the hostel is well located next to a subway, and the room was clean and spacious even though there was hidden costs. But the awful experience is in dealing with one of their staff members, Amanda, highly disrespectful and condescending. I suspect some racism or trace of lingering xenophobia. But in conclusion I still keep a good overall memory of the trip.

Location was convenient
Hotel was nicely situated to visit my family in weesp. Originally room was dirty with wet towels and bed had been slept in but when we pointed it out they moved us and it was good.

Convenient location!
Convenient location near to the Bullewijk subway station. Also located close to the Zuid business district, and only about a 20-minute commute to downtown Amsterdam. Hostel and rooms were a little dated, and not the most comfortable. Breakfast was an excellent bonus!

Spend $20 more and be much more satisfied
This is one of the cheapest stays in Amsterdam and it shows. It took close to 2 hours to check in and there wasn’t more than a foot between my bed and the next one. It’s in a pretty bad location apart from being next to the metro station. I definitely recommend looking elsewhere.

Arrived back at hotel from night out at 8am as i was getting to sleep cleaner made his way into room i said i want to pass on the hotel room cleaning today (it is an option to do) cleaner then arrived back at hotel room 7 times making his way into room every time while i was trying to sleep and i said everytime he came in i dont want my room cleaned as i need to sleep and he didnt listen anytime so thanks to him me and my partner had next to no sleep

Good cheap stay in Amsterdam
Not much was expected from this room. It exceeded the expectation! Food was offered late night. The free breakfast also included lunch, which was great! Dog friendly hotel. It is directly outside the metro line, so it is easy to get into Centrum.

I would say it is value for the money. The hostel is clean and the staff is helpful. I would recommend the hotel and will come back again.

Very good rooms, let down by inefficient staff
Location was great, right next to metro. Rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. There was always hot water morning and evening for showers. The room was quiet and we weren't disturbed at night. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and again, clean and comfortable. Basically, all the important stuff was covered and we would therefore recommend it. Negative points: Service at checkin was awful. It was ridiculously slow, no sense of urgency amongst the staff. There was a permanently long queue in reception as a result. We had pre-paid and had our references and it still took 10 minutes to sort out check in once we got to the desk. They had a self check in machine if tou had booked through A&O but not hotels.com. Service was also atrocious at the bar. They seemed to have no idea how to run a bar and the wait for drinks/food was awful. After waiting 10 mins to order they were saying we would have to wait a further ten minutes before they could pour our drinks and instead continued to take orders. Needless to say we didn't use the bar again but a hotel bar was not on our priority list.

When we first checked into our room the bed sheets had not been changed. The room had not been cleaned. We found a set of keys and a pair of jeans in the bed. When I went to reception to complain I was given a new set of sheets to change the bed myself and two free drinks. Which the hotel offers if you “give up” your maid service each day.

A Ryanair style place to stay - Awful
Disastrous decision to stay here. Cheap but not cheerful. This place is the Ryanair of hotel/hostels... Their business model is to make money from your failures once they have you on board. No bed linen provided add 4 Euro, no towel add 1.5 Euro, leave room one hour late having arrived of a 16 hour trip and then done a nights work getting to bed at 3am, 11 Euro. It is an appropriate place for people that want ZERO above a space to lie down. My room was an airless space rammed with beds beyond my typical experience in other hostels. Really unpleasant experience. With considerable confidence I say absolutely not recommended.

Very close to the metro station (about 3 minutes walking distance). The Room is spacious and clean.I like the separation of bathroom and toilet.

The hotel itself was the perfect stay for a visit for Amsterdam. I will say that the area, as small as it is, between the train station and the hotel needs to be policed. My friend and I were approached by three guys who mugged us on our walk over there our first night in Amsterdam. We had been off the train for less than 5 minutes. Other than that, Amsterdam is wonderful!

To have a room big enough for the five of us, was perfect! The room was very clean, light and airy! Even though it is a large hostel, it was quiet enough for the children to sleep through the night - especially with very comfortable beds. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here as the metro is also only a two minute walk away that will take you into Amsterdam Central.

Very close to Metro station, so very convenient. But there is only one small communal kitchen on the ground floor for the whole building. I've seen people arguing over the use of the only pot available in the kitchen. There should at least be a bigger communal kitchen or a few more kitchens on other floors.

Staff were really slow, barman took 20 mins to serve one group of 3 people and didnt look like he was in a rush when the bar was full of people waiting and the cue ever growing, worst service of my trip! my room had an awful view but was moved swiftly to another room with an even worse view of office buildings. The windows could really do with nets as you feel no privacy atall

Very bad. Cost too much for parking. Room not clean. Someone open my door didnt clean and left it open. Rooms are with noise and loud from the rail train that is out of the window. You cant sleep at night at all train every 5 minuts. Water too slow in the bathroom. Water not running ok from the sink. You cannot wash teeth. Schools children are coming too much kids and noise around very messy. I Never come back

The room was clean. Bathroom was being cleaned daily. Close to metro station makes it easy commute to central. 24 hours reception for any query. The only downside is the guest kitchen if anyone is looking to cook food - it is small compared to the size of the property. But there is an on-site bar/ restaurant.

The staff were fantastic but not enough staff members on at one time. Waited a very long time at the bar because the poor staff were run off their feet! There were two staff members on at a time, one checking people in and one serving at the bar. This happened all nights we were there. Good place for families and good location right near the metro.

No airconditioning, and will not let you open the room window to get the air circulate, my whole family never have a good sleep due to hot room, they don’t clean the room and their reason is they’re so busy, forget to replace the dirty towels and refill the bath and hand soap. The positive side is close to metro.

Hello, I would like to keep my name anonymous as to not draw attention to myself, but I had a very serious and slightly disturbing experience at your hostel a&o Amsterdam Zuidoost, and I would like to bring it to someone’s attention. I stayed at this hostel for about 5 days earlier this month of August 2019. I had been travelling by myself as a young woman, and had made casual conversation with the male receptionist who took my reservation and set up my room for me, I had asked him what there was to do around the hostel, and he insisted that he could show me to a good coffee shop just around the corner on a map in the lobby, I of course accepted as this was a very kind gesture. I had gone to leave my things in my room, and came down stairs where he had shown me a shop just down the street, and then proceeded to say he could actually go with me after he was off in about 20 minutes. I said I was fine if we found eachother again, but I was a bit reluctant to say yes because we had just met. I went outside for a smoke and then turned around to see he was outside there as well taking a smoke, we talked for a bit and I told him about California, then I went back inside to my room and went to the small park across the street and took a phone call home, and while I was there he showed up, and asked if I still wanted to go to the coffee shop. I said ok and we walked down, smoked a bit and then went to a public area to smoke the other half as it closed about 15 minutes after we arrived
