"Great location for peace and quiet and walking into and around abingdon.
Rooms basic but nice, mattresses could be more comfortable but were acceptable and the breakfast great and plentiful.
My second and definitely not last visit."

"The room was clean but the en-suite was old and dated. The bed was very comfortable and a fan was provided to help cool the room. The staff were excellent and helpful. Breakfast was also of a good quality and tasty with a good selection. The bar was good, typical of a town centre hotel bar."

"Rooms and location with free parking was great for the area—much more reasonable than other places we looked at. Comfortable beds, and while the breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about, it was pleasant and filling. Nice to have that covered on our first day of the trip. This place isn’t anything fancy, but it was fine. Easy bus ride into city centre. Would recommend if looking for a good, basic option."

"I enjoy a hotel that makes you feel like the location… not some generic place that looks the same in every location. The Porterhouse was great in that regard, made me feel like I was in Oxford. Clean and comfy room and great location. Staff was great and helpful in every way! Breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay again!"

"Fantastic cosy room. Lovely shower , comfy bed. The check in is via phone and a key safe .
The room was well stocked and very clean. Main problem is the doors to rooms don’t have quiet closing so when the ignorant other guests go in and out there is constant slamming of doors.
We stayed in the room with exposed beams and it was very well thought out . Good for walking holiday due to location."

"The rooms were spacious and clean, although not exceptional (some of the furniture was a little flimsy) and could benefit from AC.
Obviously, there is a lot of building work being carried out nearby but not too intrusive.
Reasonable value for money."
"Plenty of parking, friendly staff, brilliant location, nice rooms and brilliant amenities. Only small issue was the car park beside attracts silly kids with loud exhausts into the evening… but nothing a closed window didn’t solve."
"Had a great stay here, perfectly located in central Oxford and also onsite parking which was helpful. Unfortunately our room wasn’t ready for a while after check in time but the staff were apologetic and gave us some money off and a free cocktail which was great. The room was lovely, we stayed in a suite which had a roll top bath which was loveeely! Will definitely be coming back."
"The staff from checking in to checking out were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was a nice size , as with all this type of hotel there is not enough draw space other than that it was more than adequate.
Besides breakfast we ate in the restaurant twice , the food was nice cooked and tasty. The price was very good.
The only complaint I had was having to pay for the car park because I booked through Expedia and welcome break.com"
