"The place itself was average, but over priced. Rats chewed the wiring on my new car causing a shortened stay and unexpected cost. Apparently, this is a known problem in the area. The host should have advised us so we could have been prepared. "

The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

"Loved how quiet and dark the area was. Great hospitality also from the crew at the Bad Rabbit Cafe on the property. My cabin was a simple one which was what i was looking for. Only minor improvement I would wish for was an updated window unit-A/C so i could have made the room ice cold to sleep in. 9 out of 10 stars and will definitively be coming back for the peace and quiet at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge !"
