  • The Rio Grande River winds 12 miles down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park, Texas. When the water is high you can come down the 1,500 foot walled canyon. With less water flowing, guides take you 3 to 4 miles up the canyon with some spots having to portage. But take it all in stride because the views are breathtaking. I recommend Big Bend River Tours. You might get lucky and have the guides that take you a half mile up a side canyon. An excellent day excursion in the out of the way national park.

The room was lovely. My 3 star rating is because the location of the ranch is very isolated and that was not made clear in the booking. It is a 18 mile road off of the main road with the last 3 miles a dirt road. Hard to get to and when we arrived, their restaurant/cafe was closed for renovations so no food at all. If you want to stay in Terlingua stay in the Ghost Town area and not way out here.

Clean room- spacious. Restaurant handy and decent food with good service. in room coffee maker and water filter/dispenser really nice touch. Laundromat on premises very nice. We did not realize last three miles of road was unpaved and all roads on premises were gravel. For us - visiting. Big Bend National Park the ranch was a little too far to drive each day.

The room was clean with plenty of room. We are both nights at the restaraunt - food was great with an excellent selection of different foods. We enjoyed sitting on our deck in the evenings and watching the amazing view!

Beautiful area. I wish we would have stayed longer. The only issue we had was that the cabins are duplexes. We could hear absolutely everything that the neighbors were saying and doing. There is no kind of wall insulation or noise barrier.

Room was clean, quiet, comfortable, pleasantly cooled, and it smelled really good when we walked in! Great little cafe on premise, staff was always courteous and attentive. Amazing location, really away from it all - 3 miles of unpaved road to get to it. Whole family loved it!

The lodge was good except for the dirt road leading to the lodge. Staff were friendly and restraunt was good. Rooms were clean. Rooms were isolated and in a beautiful place with mountains around. Skies were dark and great for star gazing. If a road is paved through the 3 mile dirt road on the ranch road, it would be perfect!

I had a great stay at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge! The bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water with good pressure, which is nice after a day of hiking in Big Bend National Park. The lodge is about 1.5 hours away from any hikes that you’ll want to do in the park, but the views are amazing and worth the drive. The rooms have a microwave and fridge, but no televisions, which is nice and gives you an off the grid experience that I enjoy from time to time. The restaurant had great food and quick service and we even got to enjoy some live music for our dinner one evening! I would absolutely stay here again and hope I can one day.
