Very good value for money, everything you need is there including WiFi. Some small areas needing attention but nothing serious. Only downside was building works going on in an attached building, loud banging from 6am.

York Stay

Great stay at Thompsons Arms while visiting family in the area. Clean and comfortable room, very friendly hosts and must mention the terrific cooked breakfasts! An added treat was the local musicians playing folk songs in the bar, a monthly event, so lucky to catch it :-) Also a convenient location for visiting York, which was as delightful and interesting as ever.

Friendly and accommodating

We attended a near by wedding, the accommodation was perfect for what we needed, the owners were friendly, couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating, the surrounding area was lovely just a shame we didn’t have more time to explore.

Huge room with everything I would need for an overnight stay. Plenty of tea, coffee, and toiletries. Room was spotlessly clean and I had a great night's sleep in the comfortable bed. As a lone traveller, I was made to feel really welcome and would definitely return.

Great find

Another great find, Hosts were friendly and gave advice on where to eat, even phoned another pub to check if food was available. The beer was great and well priced, had a great evening with the locals, the room was lovely and breakfast fantastic. I read mixed reviews, but will look to stay here again when in the area and thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely little cottage & polite host

Greeted by a lovely host - really polite and quickly showed me to my accommodation. Brilliant little cottage with secure parking and facilities in the cottage were great - lovely little kitchen. Pub was lovely and bustling with locals too - felt very welcome. 100% recommend and will stay again when working in the area

Excellent!!

Lovely little cottage! Everything you could need for a week away , stayed for work and was able to cook meals, comfortable bed , sky tv , Netflix, private gated parking so the van was secure . Honestly one of the best little places I’ve stayed for ages !!

Visited York for the day and was visting Flamingo Land the next. We would this place to be about halfway between both and a much better price than York city centre. A very nice ,cozy B&B with a great little pub on the ground level. We had a great time playing darts, having a few cheap drinks, and talking some of the locals. Breakfast was delicious, highly reccomended.

Lovely quiet little place to stay. Easy driving distance of York without the noise and busyness of the city. Staff were very helpful and communicated with us well. The room was exceptionally clean. We were offered breakfast but declined due to other plans, it smelt amazing so next time we stay, breakfast will be a definite.

Excellent value for money.

Two adults and 2 children stayed in no2 cottage. A compact one bedroom cottage with a large comfortable bed and sofa bed in sitting room. Kitchen has all you need for short stay. Vehicles kept in gated area, so very secure. Stu and his wife are friendly, their breakfast was excellent quality for price (additional charge). This must be the cheapest pub in the UK.(£3 pint) Overall we had a very pleasant 3 nights. Thank you.

Respite

We went for a weekend. It was respite as we have a disabled daughter. Everything was just right. Sofa was a bit low, as we are 69 and 74 yeas in age so it was hard on the knees. But other than that it was warm and cosy and quiet. We enjoyed our rest. Thank you.
