Hilton Xiamen
At the check-in staff did not seem so kind. When you are traveling far from home, alone and tired after a long trip, a welcome smile matters. Overall, it is a very good hotel, also well located.

Millennium Harbourview Hotel Xiamen
Room was clean. Staff was courteous and always ready to help. Gym is also surprisingly well equipped. The free self-service laundry room was also very helpful if you are going for a long stay (i stayed with my wife and kid for 7 days). The breakfast can be too repetitive though.

Conrad Xiamen
This is one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed in. The lobby and restaurant area is hugged by the water with islands scattered and shrouded in fogs. Room is spacious and exquisitely decorated. Breakfast contains copious western and Chinese selections.

Other neighborhoods around Siming District
Huli District
You might enjoy the gardens while in Huli District. Gulangyu Piano Art Museum is a notable sight, and you can get around town at Andou Station or Banshang Subway Station to see more of the city.
Hecuo
While there might not be top attractions in Hecuo, you can explore the larger area and discover places like Huandao Road Muzhan Avenue and Wuyuanwan Wetland Park.
Haicang
