Owners were very friendly and helpful, little touches like home made muffins and lemon curd set places apart Also I’m over 6ft and easily fit into the stand alone bath, great for relaxing the muscles after a day walking

From the moment I arrived, my entire experience at this B&B was exceptional. Every interaction with the team felt warm, genuine, and professional — nothing was ever too much trouble, and I truly felt looked after throughout my stay. My room was spotless, beautifully presented, and incredibly comfortable. The attention to detail was clear from the fresh linens to the thoughtful layout and amenities. It felt like a perfect space to relax and unwind. The B&B itself is in a fantastic location, and everything ran smoothly — check-in was efficient, the facilities were well maintained, and the atmosphere throughout the building was welcoming and calm. What really stood out, though, was the level of customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, including a lovely pot of tea, offering great recommendations and checking in with me without ever being intrusive. Their professionalism and friendliness genuinely elevated my stay. I left feeling refreshed, valued, and incredibly impressed. Fantastic B&B

Stayed for 2 nights and had a great time. Accommodation was excellent and the host was very friendly. The service was great and the full English breakfast was very large and tasty. Would definitely recommend staying there.

Business trip with a homely stop over.

My colleague and I stopped for 2 nights, excellent value for money, good traditional breakfast each morning and a lovely couple running it. The rooms are spacious and fitted with top end fixtures, if you are looking for a place to stay that is homely and invited ,then this is the place for you. Wi Fi as well as local coffee and tea was in each room. Highly recommended.

Lovely B & B with great hosts

What a lovely place to stay. The home is a very old house that has been meticulously presented. The room was delightful. The hosts (Sue & Fred) were genial and extremely helpful. The breakfast was huge! Obviously a shared bathroom might be awkward ... but it wasn't for us! No close places for dinner was a bit of a downside, but a short trip into Cockermouth ensured plenty of great options were available. Highly recommended.

Hard to find but worth it!

The only way to find this mostly hidden gem is to program the address into a GPS - I don;t think you could ever just run across it randomly.

Comfy lounge with a fire going

Overall, our stay was good. We had trouble finding the place as there is only a very small easily missed sign on the road. A thing that surprised us was that there were no keys to lock the doors, and the polished wood floors in the bedroom gives a rather cold feel to the room. Having said these things we would stay there again.

Don't hesitate - Armidale Cottages Bed & Breakfast

Would I recommend Armidale Cottages? Absolutely! The friendly approach, second to none service, clean and cozy rooms, quiet and lovely surroundings, tasty breakfasts,... they all add up to a really pleasant stay I wish I discovered sooner. Don't hesitate for a second. This one beats all the crowded, shiny, big hotels. This one has something that no money can buy. This one has a heart.

Very Welcoming

Did not arrive until late evening and after a days travelling was made most welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable nights stay and nice hearty breakfast (too much for me to manage !) Would recommend this establishment to other travellers, both for business and holiday stay.
