We stayed at this hotel for one night and it was one of the most uncomfortable and disturbing experiences we’ve ever had while traveling.
As a Mexican family, we were shocked by how unwelcome we felt the moment we walked in. The environment was extremely racially charged—from the staff to the other guests. We were constantly being watched, stared at, and treated like we didn’t belong there. It honestly felt like we had walked into a scene from the movie Get Out. People didn’t just glance—they glared. It was incredibly unsettling.
At one point, our toddler touched something nearby and a staff member immediately warned us that “we’d have to pay for it if he broke it,” in a tone that was completely unnecessary. We weren’t being careless—we were simply existing in a space we paid for like anyone else. The entire time, we were met with judgmental stares and a clear message: You don’t belong here.
We’ve traveled extensively and have stayed in a wide variety of hotels, and we’ve never felt so discriminated against in our lives. If you’re Mexican, Latino, or a person of color, I would not recommend staying here. It was not just uncomfortable—it was deeply offensive and hurtful.
Hotels should be safe, welcoming spaces for all people. This one failed miserably.
