"I absolutely loved my stay here and would definitely stay here again. From the minute I walked in I was made to feel very welcome from the two people working behind the bar, they were so warm, kind and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. I was checked in very quickly and smoothly. My room was on the top floor up quite a few stairs but this wasn’t an issue for me as I am fully mobile and able to carry my bags upstairs. However for a less-abled person it may be a bit difficult.
My room was wonderful. It was large; even with a double bed, an armchair, a wardrobe and a desk there was still plenty of room. It was so bright and airy and very clean. The shower was one of the best I’ve ever used in a hotel. The water was always warm and of a really good pressure.
The bed was very comfortable and the linen was very white and crisp.
All the communal areas eg stairwell, downstairs bar were very clean and decorated very tastefully. I loved all the paintings on the walls.
I had breakfast and dinner which were both cooked to perfection, and in the bar the choice of beers was very good.
I cannot fault this hotel at all as it was simply wonderful. Even the location was great as it was opposite the train station (I travelled by train), and it was about 15 minutes walk into the town and beach. And considering my room was above a busy pub I heard no noise from downstairs at all.
Thank you to all the brilliant staff that I met, you were all amazing and perfect!"
"The hotel has plenty of free parking which is a bonus. However, the rooms are in need of complete refurbishment. Furniture is dated and the bathrooms need complete modernisation. While disabled travellers are welcome. None of the rooms could be considered accessible due to all bathrooms having showers over the bath and it not being possible for some wheelchair users to use. A lot of the windows have blown and the heating needs updating.
I have stayed here a number of times over the last few years, but nothing changes.
However, on a positive, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good value for money. "
"A very convenient base for a short break visiting family and friends, and for business meetings in south east Hampshire. Excellent location close to motorway and rail network. Staff helpful, parking facilities great. The hotel is in need of some modernisation but the rooms and facilities were clean. Very good value for money."
"The hotel is in DESPERATE need of refurbishment. It’s incredibly run-down. The carpets are in a state in the communal areas a bedrooms and the whole place just needs work - drafty windows, peeling paint, scruffy furniture. But the building is lovely, the rooms are spacious and they are SUPER welcoming of dogs. The fridge was missing from our room, and the swimming pool is also needing some work. The bar food is a lot of frozen stuff, and not very nice. Think Weatherspoons. Breakfast buffet is good though. So much potential there, grounds are wonderful. Location great. Just needs a good clean and decorating! "
