"Lovely hotel, clean and spacious. Room was clean with all amenities provided.
Breakfast - buffet style, not many options for food, and personally food undercooked (pink bacon, white scrambled eggs). Still edible but not to personal taste"
"The whole stay was amazing. Staff were really friendly, the spa was incredibly relaxing, and the cabin accommodation was perfect and in a really scenic spot. The only fault was the outdoor pools were pretty cold, but the weather was chilly generally during our stay."
"Stayed here for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay. The executive room was lovely and had a river view. The only downside of that was when the spa opened you could hear voices outside, especially when the spa opens early in the morning. The shower was great and bed really comfy. Breakfast in the hotel was good. They do continental help yourself and order the hot food and tea/coffee. The first morning we did wait quite a long time to order and noticed others who came in after us ordered and received their food before we ordered and it wasn’t too busy. The 2nd day we ordered quickly and received our food quickly so wasn’t a regular thing with the slow service. The spa was lovely too having been done up. The outdoor is great and indoor relaxing, the indoor pool was a little cold though! We did have messages also which were lovely. I would return again, I would just be prepared for the colder indoor pool and allocate longer for breakfast. "
"Lovely setting with beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. The Grill was excellent for dinner too. The staff was so very welcoming, courteous and helpful."
"Fantastic hotel which has clearly had a lot of work done in recent times. I was greeted warmly by Ricky and checked in to Room 2, which was massive - and simply perfect for my (5 stone) greyhound, as he had space to move.
The Royal Marine is one of 2 dog friendly hotels in the area, and as you can see, His Lordship was made ever so welcome and he slept like a log, as did I! I brought his own bed, however my bed was super comfy and cosy. There was a tv, a (clean!) kettle with tea & coffee and large en-suite.
The building itself is steeped in history and is architecturally stunning. For the same price you could stay in one of the bland, characterless, pokey guesthouses nearer town.... but why would you? From what I could tell, every room looked different, which was a nice touch.
The terrace is a great place to sit and watch the Clyde roll by, and there was ample parking too. The log fire in the bar was both cosy and aesthetically pleasing, and the whole place was super clean.
Sadly I was staying due to holding my husbands funeral in Dunoon, but the hotel being bright and cheerful really helped me alot. All the staff were fun and incredibly friendly (it is rare for housekeeping to say good morning these days, but the ladies here were wonderful). Also, a big thumbs-up to Fiona on the bar for making my stay a thoroughly enjoyable one; it really is the staff who make a hotel feel like home.
As Arnie would say, Ill be back! Thank you xxx"
"The hotel was very quiet and quaint. The breakfast was good and Ample. There is no lift between floors but the staircase was quite good. There was enough parking for the guests."
