The hotel is very cosy and located in a kind of secret dock by the canal. You're right in the middle of everything yet it's quiet. The staff are very friendly and kind. Alessandra was very accommodating, she let us use the room an extra hour before we left as I had to go to the police station to report the theft of my wallet. Please be careful on Rialto Bridge, there are pickpockets.

Exceptional property and exceptional staff. The breakfasts are excellent, essential a made to order meal. Our host, Alessandra, told us about places to go and see and the best times to go. When we told her that we wouldn’t be able to have breakfast the final morning, her staff prepared sandwiches and fruit for us for our trip home. She also told us the swiftest way to get to the airport. Alessandra has degrees in art history and actually leads tours of the Venice visitors seldom see. The hotel reflects her vast knowledge of the city’s history and can only be described as opulent in its furnishings and design. We felt very pampered, and it is located right on a very rare plaza area that is right on the Grand Canal. Truly a spectacular setting, which we especially loved gazing at each morning from the breakfast room. You can be assured that if we return to Venice, this is where we will again stay—a total delight.

Superb stylishly renovated boutique hotel in the heart of Venice . You feel like royalty staying in this small hotel both from the decoration of the rooms and the quality of service . If you are coming from the airport catch a private water taxi which stops just outside the hotel. Walkable from the train station. Great continental breakfast.

Pros: -Alessandra and her team were fantastic. She greeted us warmly, sat us down with a map of the entire city and gave us a rundown of things to see (and things to avoid). On our last day my wife and I had an early train to Naples so we weren’t able to make breakfast. So the staff put sandwiches and snacks in our fridge so we could take them on the train. -The location was tough to beat. It’s right on the Grand Canal with their own semi-private dock to soak in the environment and take pictures. Right next to the Rialto Bridge, everything in the city was easy to walk to. Cons: Our bathroom was separate from our room. My wife and I were the only ones with access to it but it was a minor inconvenience. But this is just as much on me since I didn’t read the fine, fine print on Expedia.

The couple that runs the hotel couldnt have been nicer. Such a warm, friendly greeting. I was there well before check-in but they were so gracious not only to hold my bags, but also brought me into the breakfast nook for a cappuccino while i enjoyed the views of the grand canal. They gave wonderful recommendations for places to eat as well. The room was incredible and very well appointed. Wish i could've stayed longer.

Wonderful location

We had a wonderful stay at the Scalon del Doge. Excellent service, catering to our dietary requirements and letting us check in early. Staff were informative and kind. Thank you for a great stay.

This hotel is well situated right near the water taxi stops and about a 5 minute walk to the Rialto. The hotel is on the second floor of the building with a small restaurant below with a courtyard and dock with excellent views of the Grand canal and Rialto. The staff is lovely and the rooms are clean and well kept but small, but I think this is normal for the area as space is at a premium. The breakfast was very good for Europe and there is a great view from the tiny dining area. One of the best things about our room was just outstanding AC. We could control the temp and it was quiet. We were there in summer and it was very hot so a cool room was excellent. We stayed in a triple room so I’m not sure it was just our room or not but it was nice to have and I think somewhat unique for Europe. The room was essentially sound proof because of the thick walls in the old building. We couldn’t have picked a busier time to be there and our room was peaceful. We would stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for those looking for good value, location.

Very kind/friendly staff. Very clean and the included breakfast was amazing! Tucked in and fairly private. Restaurant below and a great view of the rialto bridge from the nearby dock. Air conditioning worked well. Would recommend!!

Excellent and beautiful small boutique hotel near Rialto Bridge. The water taxi stop is just steps from the entrance. Check-in was easy and informative. The receptionist provided tons of information, guided us through the island and even showed us a short video of Venice attractions. Everything was wonderful, from the room to the breakfasts! The blue room was spacious, clean, beautifully decorated with Burano chandeliers, silk walls and views to a canal. The AC was always cold! We were welcomed each day with Venetian cookies, chips and candy. Hearty breakfast served in a beautifully decorated room with a view to the Grand Canal. Alessandras attentiveness was superb - we had an early tour one morning and we were going to miss our usual breakfast, instead she prepared sandwiches for us to take on the tour and left cookies and tea at our bedside to have before leaving! She went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! Everything about this stay was special. My daughter left feeling like a princess! Thank you Alessandra and staff for your kind and thoughtful service to my family! Your hard and passion for customer service truly shows. I recommend this hotel especially if you want to feel the true Venetian vibe. There are not that many rooms so don’t wait too much on booking it!

What to say its a very boutique hotel in an amazing position. Alessandra and her staff are so helpful its unbelievable. Great position and a superb, amazing restaurant underneath....with a super view of the grand canal. I would absolutely reccomend if you want a truly venetian experince.
