the hallway on the 1st and 3rd floor smells bad. probably because of smoke, and there’s this moment that the smell seems like someone is frying a fish. this is not just my comment but also to my relatives staying in the other room. but staff was great during check out and room is still clean.

The hotel is old and needs updating replacing the carpets and new decor. There is significant artistic license of the hotels promo photos as it is very dark decor and the outside photos do not reflect the actual immediate area. Generally clean and the majority of staff were friendly polite and helpful. The immediate area around the hotel is shabby and downbeat and questionable groups of people hanging around the area. There is however a bus/tram stop outside and walking distance to nice restaurants and visitors attractions.

CONS: LOUD!! Not within the hotel itself, but outside, the party goes all night long. Between loud, thumping music, to people yelling and sirens every 10 minutes or so. There is a LOT of homelessness and drugs, day and night. There is no hiding the drug use, either. That is the neighbourhood, though (which we didn't realize until we arrived). The rooms/mattresses are old and dated. PROS: The staff are wonderful! They were so friendly and helpful. Upon arriving, they greeted our son with a treat bag!

Location is right in the middle of all the action. If that is what you want you will love it, if not, you will hate it. Music from next door pumped until the bar closed.

The staff was great. The room was clean. It's an older hotel so a bit run down. It was $40 a night to park which wasn't disclosed upon booking. So the parking tax was a shock. This hotel is connected to a night club so the music pumped till 3 am. Also wasn't told about this until we checked in. They said because we had kids they put us towards the back of the hotel. It did not help. The second night the fire alarm went off for about 10 min with no reassurance that everything was ok.

Excellent staff. Worked very hard to find us another room when there was a problem with the first, noisy room heater. The room they found for us was spacious and very quiet. We had difficulty getting Netflix on the television and they quickly came to our room to help us with that. When I asked about an exercise room, they gave me a pass to a very well-appointed gym just around the corner. Very good location. Several transit lines nearby which provided easy access to just about everything of interest in Vancouver. On the negative side: some rooms seem to be still under renovation. Our first room not only had a noisy heater but also water leaked from the top of the tap. We had to wrap a towel around it. Also, although we felt perfectly safe on Granville street, many of the businesses have closed, a rather dismal atmosphere. Finally the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel served a very poor breakfast. Fortunately lots of other places nearby which did a much better job of cooking.

Air conditioners are in the windows so you can hear every single sound from outside. Being on Granville st it’s never quiet out there. The room itself was decent and clean. Hallways were outdated and not clean at all. Front lobby was beautiful and great staff.

The hotel is right next to a night club and on Friday and Saturday night the bass from the club pounded through the room until 330 in the am.

Possibly the most helpful hotel staff we have ever met . Problem with our first room (noisy heating unit), the staff bent over a backwards, even though hotel almost completely booked, to find us a room without that problem. Also staff came to our room so that we could get streaming service on tv. Hotel well located. Several bus lines nearby going to virtually every tourist attraction in city. One drawback, tried breakfast in pub attached to hotel. Everything, including the eggs, seemed to be microwaved. Did not go back but several other places for breakfast nearby.

This hotel was fine. For the price and location it was perfectly passable. The staff were lovely and so nice when i did need anything. Very walkable all over the city, didn't even take transit once. Quick ride from and to the airport. The coffee shop on the corner is lovely, lots of great little spots around. Yaletown is a 5 minute walk and absolutely charming. Also walked to Rogers Arena with no issues.
