  • Ritipanna is the Sinhalese term for stilt fishing, which is a traditional method for fishing practiced by most fishermen along the southern coast of Sri Lanka. This art is popularly seen in areas such as Ahangama, Koggala, Welipenna, Kathaluwa and Thalarambe. A narrow pole is tied to a stick that is anchored on the sea bed. Fisher folk climb onto this stick and settle on the pole for a few hours in an effort to catch some fish. Fishermen found on stilts are those who do not have access to sophisticated equipment for fishing. These men can make a living simply with the help of two wooden poles to make a stilt. One pole is nailed onto the sea bed and the other is placed like a cross bar and acts as a plank for the fishermen to sit on. Each stilt can accommodate only one fisherman. For catching fish, they create a rod made of Kithul, and a small plastic bag is tied around their waist to hold the fish that they catch. With one hand they hold onto the stilt and with the other they hold the rod that catches fish. The tradition of stilt fishing will always be practiced by those who cannot afford to invest in modern fishing equipment. #likealocal

It was a beautiful property, great service Sujeewa was the Receptionist that helped us out with booking scooter and airport transfer. Everyone is really friendly and accommodating.

Fantastisk utsikt fra rommet

Hotellet var utrolig fint og passe stort. Virker som alle rom har balkong med sjøutsikt. Utrolig fint å åpne persiennene og kikke ut PP havet fra senga. Personalet var veldig hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Maten (frokost, lunsj og middag) var god.

All perfect. Chic villa stay. Friendly service-minded staff making everything comfortable. The property is maintained in mint condition. Special mention to the fantastic chefs cooking superb cuisine, from breakfast to dinner. Nice beach in front of the hotel.

Amazing hotel in every respect.....

Beautiful hotel, staff were superb could do enough to accommodate you. From the Manager to the pool attendant Gardner to waiting staff. The food in the restaurant was excellent and rooms were wonderful we stayed in Penthouse 2. We ate at at the bugelow in Galle Fort once very buzzy tasty meal and nice location. We both had a massage at the hotel which again was amazing. Will stay at the KK again for sure!

Excellent hotel service

Service was excellent and all staff very helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay of 3 or 4 days either at the start or end of a tour of the island as is a very relaxing place to stay

Lovely boutique hotel oceanfront

We had the pleasure of two nights here in the Penthouse 2, the room was huge, batheroom huge and great balcony although it would be perfect if they had an umbrella on the balcony so we could have enjoyed it more but that said, early am was lovely. Staff are all so friendly and accommodating. Food was good and service great, really goo coffee! The pool is really nice. You can walk 1.5km on a great,quiet beach!

Fantastic hotel with direct beach access.

We’ve just spent a week staying at KK Beach and were delighted by it. The hotel is modern, spacious and has staff that are wonderful. The attention to detail is impressive; beach towels rolled up neatly on sun loungers for guests, cold water brought out to you without needing to ask, beautiful plates of fresh fruit for breakfast, turn down service - the list goes on. We stayed in one of the penthouse suites - best hotel room we’ve ever been in - lovely balcony too, with a bathroom bigger than our living room at home! The food in the restaurant was so good we ate there 5 nights out of 7. We’d particularly like to say thank you to Samith, who was incredibly friendly, helpful and even stayed late to ensure we had dinner the night before we left. A truly wonderful place.
