The setting for the hotel is simply stunning and its easy to get to on a bus if you don't want to hire a car.
We stayed in Reindeer which looked out toward Tromso so at night you have the lights in the distance, which is pretty but we would have preferred a view on the other side so it would be handy to understand that as you are booking. It is also upstairs and I didn't appreciate from the descriptions that its a two storey block with appartments. It was also stated that you are surrounded on three sides by water and its like being in a boat. I think you needed to be closer to the front of the block for that to apply.
The appartment was nice but with a bit of better planning could be stunning. The kitchen is small and things like washing pots is tricky because there is not enough room. We also struggled as there was only one pasta bowl between two, no cereal bowls and a chipped plate. A big issue was no where to put your luggage or unpack any clothes. You do have a couple of chairs but in Reindeer they are facing the door not making the most of the view. Have no idea why the bed is so high off the ground - felt like sleeping in a bunk bed!!
There is no provision for breakfast but there is a good supermarket about a mile away.
I did read some reviews saying that this is a scam and I think that is completely unfair. Whilst its not perfect, its close.
