"Wonderful “staycation” experience for me and my girls. I wanted to go on a trip but hadn’t done enough planning for Labor Day weekend; My daughter, ever the opportunist, smelled blood in the water (so to speak) when I said out loud “ugh I want to have fun but I don’t have any ideas”, and said “how about the BEACH 😃 ??” To which I said. ”huh, great call actually, young squire”. The main issue? We live near Silver Lake so we have to make the Beach a full-day vibe in order for it to make sense for parents (since kid will be happy at the beach period- and she can nap 😴 in the annoying traffic both directions 👀 hahaha!). So, in a bit of an impulse-purchase moment of eagerness, I found a hotel in Santa Monica for 2 nights to be in the mix without having to worry about driving back and forth. The service was excellent, the people who work there genuinely want guests to enjoy themselves, location is ideal and the room we had was fantastic. I’ll admit I paid for the “upgrade” room, a beach view on top floor which is significantly more than others… but I was spoiling myself/family as I tend to do every now n then, I know some of you can relate 😉. Doesn’t hurt to splurge on a solid, fun weekend experience to recharge the proverbial batteries in one’s life. Salute to everyone who does that from time to time, and salute to Shore Hotel for an amazing stay. I will ABSOLUTELY be back, with the family in tow, in the short term."
