Take the road beyond Fusine (closed in wintertime) towards the Laghi and this emerald mountain lake with grant views is your reward. There are several spots where you see the water bubbling upwards, vulcano style, which fits perfectly with the idyllic scenery.

The hike around this upper lake takes a good one and a half hour, depending on how many benches you want to try out. There is a connecting trail to the lower lake as well - will try that next time!

"The location was great. Near the train station. My 3 brothers and I stayed there. We were our touring Vienna all day long and got back at midnight. "Vasja is a fabulous host, who greets visitors with a welcome drink & plenty of regional insight. The apartments are designed for big groups with multiple beds in multiple rooms. While we only stayed for 2 nights, things are set up nicely for week-long stays. Breakfasts are delicious and locally sourced. Bovec is reasonably convenient (35-40 min) to ski slopes in Italy. It’s also in the heart of beautiful natural wonders. Driving the mountain roads nearby is exhilarating."

"Communication with the house keeper was excellent, very helpful and friendly person. He tried everything to help us and feel us comfortable. The advertisement here on expedia didn’t mention the seperated bathroom which was actually in the hallway, not inside our apartment. The bathroom for 5 people was tiny, but ok. Besides that we had a great stay. "
