"The hotel and staff are fine. My issue was with our particular room. It had a nice modern kitchen, with walls that were red brick, two different odd wall paper, and a beach mural. The ceiling was green with pink trim. The two twin beds were mismatched in style and height. The couches and bedding sheets were dirty with stains. As I look through their advertised rooms, I don’t see pictures of our particular room."

The only point that I was concerned about was the fact that at the time of checking out I was charged with hidden fees that were not made clear at the time of booking. "Be warned: this property is NOT in Minamiuonuma, or even very close to town. To avoid an absurd taxi fare, catch the local train to Shiozawa and arrange for the property owner to pick you up at the station. That aside, the property itself is very basic, but also charming. Owner is absolutely lovely. Location has outstanding views, and the back of the building directly faces a ski lift. As long as you're not expecting much from the place, it is more than sufficient for a quick stay."
