I recently stayed at the Tamarindo Resort in Costa Rica for the first time, and overall, it was a good experience. The location is fantastic—right by the beach and close to everything, which made exploring easy. I really enjoyed the breakfast each morning, especially the fresh fruit and variety of options offered. It was a nice touch! The resort itself was somewhat clean, though there were a few areas that could have used a little more attention. The staff, while professional, could have been friendlier. As a first-time visitor to Costa Rica, I was hoping for a warmer, more welcoming vibe, but it was just average. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of customer service and cleanliness. I’d still recommend it for the location and the breakfast alone!

Friendly staff, location, central bar and restaurant were excellent. The overall vibe was fun, laid back with everything you needed close by. The breakfast was really good, with a lot of options and quality fresh food. The facility is getting a little dated but still being maintained and very clean. The food in the restaurant and bar drinks were excellent and a good value for quality food. I used the gym daily and they had enough equipment for a good work out. It's a little tights so you may need to pick your times but way better than most hotels. I also highly recommend the hotel for families toddlers to teens. Easy access to the beach, surfing and staff were super helpful booking attractions.

I would need to take considerably more time to fully review the pros and cons for the Diria in Tamarindo but to prevent boring the reader and the risk of being redundant to other reviews I'll keep this brief. All of the pros to the Diria are related to the grounds and the staff. The landscaping is beautiful and the staff works tirelessly to keep up the grounds. There are no other properties in Tamarindo with such lovely grounds and location right on the beach. The bar and restaurants are well-staffed and stocked; the included breakfast is well worth the choice. Breakfast is a large buffet with a rotating selection of Costa Rica's local favourites and standard North American fare. You have an omelette station and a waffle station on demand along with a wide selection of pastries, cheeses, and wonderful fresh fruit. One can never complain about fresh pineapples, papayas and mango. The pools are well kept and you have options depending upon where your room is located on the property and there is an adults-only pool with a tended bar in the main resort. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments must end as our experience with the room accomodations were very disappointing. Note that my wife and I stayed in an ocean view room, 215, on the beachfront side of the grounds. The crucial feature being that one cannot flush toilet paper and must instead put your poop papers into a bin that is emptied once a day. There is no bidet or shower wand. Gross. The must and mildew also are

Overall a great experience. Very clean property and pools. Right in the centre of town with restaurants and shops all around. Only issue for me was front desk and tour desk staff who seemed to be talking in Spanish and laughing to each other about guests and their requests. Happened to me on a few occasions. Not professional or 4-star treatment.

Our family of 12 traveled to Tamarindo for a portion of our trip. In total we rented 5 rooms for 2 nights. This hotel gives it a motel vibe. Definitely not a 4 star in my opinion. Once we were given the keys, the first thing we noticed was the toilet seat was off the screw and we needed to screw it back in so the seat did not move. The beds have very cheap looking sheets that had holes in it. No bed comforter as you typically see in hotels. The bed had bed bugs and every person on our group got bit quite a bit. The hotel sits by the busy road and it’s very noisy. Car passing by at all hits of the night blasting music. It’s really hard to get some sleep. My father in law asked for a fan to cancel out some noise and was told they would bring one up but never did. When he went downstairs to ask, he was rudely told by the reception guy that they did not offer it. We had a very rude waiter at the restaurant when having breakfast on both days. He was working the drink stations. He seemed annoyed by questions of guest and we overheard him complaining to another waitress how he had to repeat the same thing to guests every single day. I will say breakfast itself was decent. We did have some nice staff such as Donovan who assisted us with towels. We also had a waiter named Bismark who was very nice and helpful. The bellboys were also great. Front desk staff definitely lacked the professionalism and could use a bit more training on how to deal with guests.

Helpful and attentive staff. Sometimes service was slow but was due to minimal bartenders/many orders at once. Otherwise being right on the beach, having magnificent pools, and walking distance to many food places, this is a wonderful place to stay. Breakfast options were great. The rooms were decent. The bathroom did have a bad smell likely because of shower/sink drainage. It aired out and was fine when leaving door and window open. Would definitely stay here again.

We simply could not figure out the lights in the room. They kept going off altogether, impossible to know which switches did what, the 'lights off' button in the doorwell was confusing. But that aside, a wonderful property in a beautiful location - I would love to return one day.

Very nice place. Pools, beach, restaurants have all great views to ocean. I believe most rooms have ocean view. Rooms are clean but needs renovation. Not too bad but it’s an opportunity to improve the quality. The included Breakfast is great. Recommend!
