Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
It had the old historic charm. The price was a good value for the room. If ever gets a remodel as it needs some
Upgrading them then the price would be much higher. Nice pool. Staff needs to be a little more helpful and friendly.
A wonderful luxury hotel albeit our rooms were a bit small compared to the others. (2 single occupancy rooms). Very clean well serviced. Like a trip back in time to the golden age of luxury. Would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel. Extremely excellent value for money.
Good breakfast options. Staff worked hard to keep it full
Good dinner options as well
The pool area was lovely. Great place to spend a couple of hours
Lovely grounds, beautiful building
Bus stop right outside the hotel for easy access around the town and down to Ortigia
Couldn’t fault this hotel
Large older hotel, built in 1862 but renovated. Quiet. Situated in an historic park. Many bus tours stay here. Rooms are clean, fairly large and adequately equipped. Bed needs to be upgraded, mattress is hard and uncomfortable. Shower is in the bathtub, you need to step over the bathtub to access. Limited views from rooms. Convenient city bus stop not far from the main gate to access downtown and Ortigia. Free parking for those with rental cars. Breakfast is okay, typical large group buffet-style with chaotic frenzy to grab fresh items in limited quantities. Restaurant for dinner is okay but overpriced. Much better dining options in town.
The hotel is situated in a wonderful location, with beautiful surroundings that made our stay particularly enjoyable. The breakfast was a little below our expectations, and some of the amenities could benefit from updating. However, these were minor issues, and overall we had a very pleasant stay and would happily return.
It’s a great hotel with free parking. Location is very convenient. One thing not so great is that there isn’t any coffee machine, kettle or any other standard equipment. For this level the hotel is, it is very unusual. Other than that, it’s not a bad one.

Liked: Staff & service
The staff were kind, especially at breakfast. Super cool old classic hotel.
The rooms are really nice, smaller than pictures, but nice. View was ok, small porthole in a Concrete wall. Pool was great, breakfast was amazing. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We had a car so it was 7 minute drive to parking outside Ortigia every evening plus we did day trips to Noto, Catania, Marzemeni, Brucoli. Parking was easy and convenient. Great value for the price. I would stay again. We rented a self captained boat as well, coast is beautiful, and we ate every night in Ortigia. We split our time between Syracusa-Ortigia and Taormina.
Fantastic hotel, very well maintained with “real rooms and real bathrooms”, brick walls and classical furniture.
Good breakfast, and close to Syracuse downtown
a beautiful classic hotel with history as the first hotel in1862
sits on the top of a historic quarry.
food was great breakfast buffet and dinner
room was comfortable and had A/C working.
