Beautiful quiet historic boutique hotel, conveniently located on Water St, easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Our room #9 on the 3rd floor was very nice, great value for just over $200 taxes in (thru Expedia), plenty of free parking. We did not have the breakfast included (7-9am), but it sounded very nice for $20. Notes: 1) Shoes must be taken off at front entrance, sandals/slippers provided. 2) Stairs take you to the rooms on the 2nd & 3rd floor. We were offered assistance in carrying luggage up (but not needed).

A wonderful historic hotel full of old-world charm, beautiful artwork, and genuine hospitality. I chose the Royal Hotel based on its excellent Google reviews and the owners' thoughtful responses, and it did not disappoint—I enjoyed my stay so much that I've already booked another night for next week. Baby Rango the toy poodle and Billy Bean the Siamese cat are absolutely adorable, and Carmen is as warm, colourful, and memorable as the hotel itself.

Un hôtel toute à fait différent de ce que vous voyez partout! Une maison ancienne, 1837, qui garde son cachet ancien, parfaitement rénové très caquette, on se croirait chez la grand-mère. L’hôtesse, Carmen, est très accueillante, une artiste en soit. Par ailleurs, la maison est tapissée par ses œuvres, des magnifiques tableaux!! Je vous le recommande chaudement.Merci à Carmen pour son accueil et l’expérience offerte! Ce fut un plaisir!

The owner\hostess was rude and obsequious. She has a footwear issue…..and offered used slippers as an alternative. The physical plant was fine. This is not a hotel….it is her and her yapping dogs home. I don’t pay $300 for a lecture.

The couple that own this hotel are delightful. If you like the bed and breakfast feel, this is a place for you. The owners have thought of every detail. It is a great place for a romantic getaway but convenient enough to enjoy while on business.

Our host and owner (Carmen) is courteous and welcoming. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. Her hotel is very clean and charmingly decorated. I loved the experience of being in an Inn that has been in operation since 1785. Being so close to the waterfront and downtown amenities was a plus as well. Will definitely stay here again!

This certainly is a special place. It is a very old house and our rooms were on the 3rd floor, without elevator. We had to leave at 3am to catch a flight and that went without problems. The place is very well situated, very close the the Governor's restaurant, which we can only recommend. There are special procedures that need to be adhered to (no shoes in the house and no barefeet, you have to be quiet, you have to read the instructions 24 hours before arriving and you also have to confirm your stay 24 hours before. When we arrived early, nobody was there but there was a phone number we could call for further instructions. There is breakfast served but we missed that, no other food is served at the property. Quite a unique experience!

No shoes allowed from the front door throughout the hotel. So take some slippers!! The owner makes you feel like you are invading here space and makes you feel like her time is more important than the customers time. There are lots of rules and $100 potential fine if you make a sound or wear your shoes. The owner can be quite sarcastic . Lastly She was upset by the amount paid. I booked online so they set the price not me.

Great downtown location, uniquely older building, quaint and warm decorations. Loved the paintings in the stairwell! Promote a very quiet atmostphere. Check in was easy as the hostess showed us how to work the locks on both the front door and our room door. My husband forgot to bring a fan (which he usually sleeps with one on) and the hostess brought one up and set it up in the room! There were 2 tiny dogs that greeted us and even followed us upstairs with the hostess. We stayed in room #10 - very clean entey area / bedroom / bathroom & tastefully decorated. Check-in snacks, water & coffee provided! Will stay again! Great price!

So glad we stayed here. Carmen was a gracious host-welcomed us immediately. Our room was so clean and I loved the decor throughout. Very close to the waterfront and walking distance to great restaurants. Highly recommend.

A delightful beautifully decorated Victorian hotel from 1875. A very nice parlor to relax in with games for the kids and an equally charming dining room. Breakfast if you want it. Your host, Simone, loves to talk with her guests and is very helpful. Several good restaurants just a block away
