"Stayed for one night after a river cruise on the Rhine. Helpful friendly staff on reception, comfortable room. Had a roof top terrace with lovely views where you could drink your own wine or purchase from the restaurant."

"I highly recommend that everyone should look beyond the big expensive city of Basel and look into Germany for accommodations. Although this hotel had slightly outdated décor, one can see that this hotel, and it's staff, have a lot of pride in their work place, and they offer great service. My room was spotless, had all the necessities except for air conditioning but thankfully, it was a cool enough night that it wasn't necessary. The hotel offered a plentiful and fresh breakfast buffet that was fit for a king. Everything was wonderful at the Carathotel. I really commend the staff that was very welcoming."

"Loved the staff and the decor. The inconvenience of construction noise and the fact the air conditioner did not really work was far outweighed by the overall deco and friendly vibe of the place. The hotel provided a fan for my room. Breakfast was fantastic!"
