"I rarely give scathing reviews, but our trip included harassement from the hotel manager and I want to make sure our experience doesn't go unnoticed. The booking was a work trip for my husband. "The hotel is located just behind the train station in Lyon’s 2nd arrondissement. The building itself is beautiful, elegant, and full of historic charm. While some parts of the interior décor feel a bit dated, the beds are modern and extremely comfortable, providing a great night’s sleep. The hotel was clean and well maintained. What impressed us most was the friendliness and warmth of the staff. We arrived very early in the morning, and the front desk kindly allowed us to check in well before the standard check-in time. They even mentioned that they completely understood how exhausting a long journey from Canada could be. This thoughtful gesture made us feel genuinely welcomed and was greatly appreciated. Excellent customer service and a wonderful stay overall!"

"This seems to be student accom that has been changed to a small basic tourist apartment. One half of the building is for students (campus) and the other is for tourists. As such it is functional without much ambiance. But it’s well located close to a tramline and metro. The main train line runs next to the building which is quite ugly but doesn’t really cause too much noise. And it is easy distance to explore the centre of Lyon and the historical old town. The local restaurants are good and small supermarket nearby. The Saone river with all the restaurant boats is a few blocks away. There are also a pile of homeless people just outside the front door living under the railway bridge on both sides of the street- lots of junk, very messy and a little intimidating when they have fights amongst themselves but they caused no harm to us. So overall not a great environment but an ok apartment a as d a beautiful city."

"Parking was easy at a cost. Room was great with river views. I would normally give a 5/5 however I feel the staff in the coffee shop/bar/restaurant let the hotel down. Most of the staff were very busy talking to each other and left guests waiting until they went up and had to asked for service. I thought it was just the italian way until I saw a few Italian guests go up and asked to be served. The food could be better as well. Only a small thing as the laurel is attached to a Shopping centre and there are restaurants across the bridge within walking distance."
