"I’ve stayed at The Great George a few times and it’s always been one of my favourite spots in Charlottetown. The character is charming, the location is excellent, and the staff continue to be fantastic: friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The complimentary drink is also a nice touch.
That said, this stay didn’t live up to past experiences, especially for a premium hotel.
The room was freezing (couldn’t get it above 16c the first night despite the heat pump set to 30c), WiFi was down for days while I was trying to work, and the shower only had about 3 minutes of hot water. The bathroom fan was extremely loud, and there was a large ceiling leak in the breakfast area.
The gym was underwhelming (missing dumbbells, no water available), and the breakfast (which used to be a highlight) has declined significantly. It’s now closer to a basic continental offering, which feels out of step with the hotel’s positioning. Eg: one day there was only bagels, boiled eggs, and deep fried potatoes.
On top of that, the bed was lumpy and there was noticeable road noise.
Individually, these are manageable, but together they made the stay feel below expectations. There’s still a lot to like here, but it feels like some of the upkeep has slipped compared to previous visits."
"Amenities I have a 4 because I didn’t use any. We were in and out. This place is emasculate. The room we had was newer looking, super clean and the staff, only 2 we dealt with were great. We were off season I believe so not many there during our time. I’m sure it would be a booming place once the golf season starts. Everything was beyond maintained. I’d definitely go back and recommend it. "
"Nothing wrong with the place I didn’t realize what kind of place it was and I was not expecting that ! Not for me but may work well for others understand the type of place it is before you book online"
