"My stay at Ibis Portsmouth was really great although the lift had broken down. This was compensated by the friendly reception staff especially Sike, an African American lady really impressed me on arrival and during my entire stay - not hesitating to ask if everything was fine or suggest what else I could do. She was exceptional, readily available, her professionalism and communication was excellent. At check in, although there was a queue she made eye contact with me with a welcoming smile, gave a beckoning nod that put me at ease and a gesture that made me realise we were finally in the right place (they didn’t know we had missed our way by going to Ibis budget another hotel). What else would you need on arrival ? Diego eventually checked us in but quickly gave me the bad news about the lift. This is not thier fault. He explained that spare parts was yet to arrive. We all had to use the stairwell and in fact the guests were really impressed with reception. Diego and Sike explained the direction to the sea because I really needed to see the ports. The sea port is actually 15 minutes walk. When I needed to eat, I was directed to the restaurant where I met Julilia who such great sales woman, she suggested chicken wrap and tasty cocktails which turned out to be a really delicious. I am definitely coming back for more. Ibis hired some angels who really made me feel at home and enjoyed my vacation. Thank you Sike, Diego and Julia. You exceeded my expectations "

"Ideally positioned a few minutes walk from the beach. Beautifully decorated & lovely and clean. Great breakfast, our room was ideal for a few days stay. Off road parking available for a small charge."

" Got a text from the property management to get in to the room. Access to the property was through an unlocked front door and a room door with a combination lock which was loose and did not work. Rang the property mobile number and they said turn itleft and right then the code works. Almost immediately they sent a text demanding another payment of £45 for cleaning services which would be on top of £74 paid up front to Hotels.com. The room had a queen size bed with damp smelly linen and appeared to have been sprayed with a toxic air freshener. Toilet in the hall with no washing facilities and I guess a bathroom somewhere upstairs. As the room Management continued to send messages and ringing demanding the extra money i felt intimidated as this was not obviously extortion. I stopped answering and will be making a formal complaint to Hotels.com as I felt unsafe and hardly slept."
