Southeast Georgia is a remarkable region characterized by grand old towns, sprawling marshlands and wide, sandy beaches. The region stretches from the Florida border to the southern banks of the Altamaha River. The region’s largest city is Valdosta, featuring broad boulevards decorated with historic architecture and azalea plants. Along the harbor, check out Brunswick to experience Brunswick Old Town Historic District’s superb architecture. Nearby, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge provides opportunities for camping, hiking and wildlife watching amid pine and cypress forests.
