Superb location... whether you are there for skiing, water activities, or just to take in the spectacular lake views (as we were in early May).
The room was clean and spacious. Very fun "beachy" decor, right down to the whale's tale faucet fixtures in the bathroom--which also featured a double sink!
Only two complaints: valet parking is mandatory and $29 per night. You can get the car any time you like (and the service was quick) but of course we tipped each and every time. It adds up. Same with the $39/night "resort fee"--fine if you are taking advantage of ski storage or the pool, but a lot of money for two bottles of water a day.
When we arrived at the hotel we were informed the room was ready, but if we wanted to get in we needed to pay $25. I have traveled many places in the US and Europe and this has never happened. If the room is ready--even if it was in the morning in some cases--I have always been handed the key.
If this is a Margaritaville company policy, fine. But the front desk staff member did not say that. Worse, she sort of laughed at us when we expressed our surprise. As if she had never heard of such a thing. We chose to wait the 30 minutes out of principle... and in the end she came over and gave us our keys. Then said "it's a California thing" which it most certainly is not.
Overall it wasn't the biggest deal, but after a long drive to a new place, it definitely started the visit off on the wrong foot and seemed like a blatant money grab.
