Lovely hotel but there were a lot of stairs to the room, also there was no one around when checking in just had messages on how to get to room would have preferred someone there.
Excellent hotel 10mins from the train station.lots of good bars and restaurants.highly recommend.wpukd stay again ,caught the bus to Whitby about an hour away .
The hotel is ideally situated near to the spa. Parking wasn’t a problem and the hotel sorted us out with permits needed at a small extra cost. The staff are great, really friendly and were always there to make sure we had everything we needed. The room itself was lovely, we stayed in room 18 and we couldn’t fault it. Spacious, clean, the bathroom was clean and modern, the room has a fridge in so you can keep milk etc in your room . There were loads of teabags which is a big plus for myself and it was Yorkshire tea so they didn’t scrimp on them. The room is well thought out with enough sockets in there and situated where you want them. We had a room at the back of our bed where you could hang your clothes and the missus even had a dresser to get ready with a mirror etc. We had a hearty breakfast in the morning plus there are cereal’s and yoghurt’s if you want them. I would recommend this hotel to anybody and would love to stay again.
Adriana sent me a text message & a email at 08.31 am on 06/09 with some important information of me staying at there accommodation. My room & ensuite was at an excellent cleaning standard. There was a folder in my room,I read this important information inside this folder. I couldn't find out what time breakfast started. There was a room in the lounge area on the door it said breakfast room. On 07/09 I went downstairs to the lounge area at 08.10 am the breakfast room door was locked which I thought was strange, I waited in the lounge area for 20 minutes than went back to my room to get ready to start my day. The next two mornings I never went down to the lounge area but I did check the breakfast room door as I was leaving the door was locked. There was no communication at all about breakfast if they don't do breakfast than PLEASE let the guests know in advance. They put in the text message & email I had sent me if have any Questions please ring this number & we will be happy to help, due to me struggling with my confidence & mild depression i never phoned them . I never seen any members of staff in the 3 days I stayed there. This accommodation wasn't for me, what works for you doesn't work for another. I was relieved to leave on 09/09 . No I won't be staying at Carlton house again
The place was a great stay. Cleanliness was brilliant. Bed so comfy and nice to see the room was tided everyday and little aperitifs (coffee, tea etc.) were topped up each morning. Overall a great place to stay and the bisiness card is definitely on my pinboard for our next visit.
It was the first time we have taken our dog away with us, we were all made very welcome and our dog particularly enjoyed the sausage cooked for her breakfast every morning. We will definitely be back, thank you for a lovely much needed break
A lovely place to stay, we had a fab time and would certainly stay here again. The rooms are exactly as depicted on the web site, very clean and have everything you need. The bed was comfy, sheets are super soft and the shower was perfect. Parking was easy with the permit left for us when we arrived. The staff are very welcoming, helpful and a credit to the management.
Great location. REALLY comfy bed! Great facilities, even has a full sized fridge in the room which was a lovely surprise! Provided a parking disc which was really helpful. Very reasonable price.
No negatives. We’d stay here again.

Clean B and B
A great location, clenliness was good and the staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, only niggle was the beans were luke warm on both mornings.
Our room had a fridge, hairdryer etc which was handy. The bed had a frame which as i am over 6 feet tall didn't allow me to lay down. The shower cubicle was small and with the caddy in it which made it quite compact. When on cold the shower had good pressure but when warm, pressure was very poor so unable to shower properly.

The partition walls seem to me made from something that amplifies noise, not only I could hear what my neighbour was saying on the phone but also the replies. Someone went out and left a dog in a room which immediately started a long series of barks, howls and whines lasting into the early hours and expressing a cycle of annoyance, anger, fear, loneliness, anguish and despair. Plus, no breakfast, a sneaky trick to play on someone who doesn't read the small print.
