The Belfry Inn & Bistro - a Cape Classic

We have stayed at the Belfry Inn several times, and this is simply one of the most unique jewels on Cape Cod. It is as picturesque and genuine as the pictures you see. The proprietor, Chris, is one of the true gentlemen of the industry, and his hands-on touch is evident everywhere from the artwork to his menus and style. We stayed this time at The Painted Lady, which is a centuries-old house, that resembles something out of a whimsical children's book - gorgeous period detail, a secret staircase for Alice, and a burger restaurant! We had the front room that has gorgeous light, pillow-top bed, and a large bath tub. Wow. The last and the best thing is the breakfast served every day, with an assortment of baked goods and other yummy things. Put Sandwich and the Belfry on your list, and go visit the Brown Jug while you're at it.

Comfortable and cosy

Our room was in the eaves (which we knew when we booked it) and up two flights of stairs. The room was clean and comfortable, well equipped and with a roll top bath. The continental breakfast was very fresh and tasty ( the cranberry muffins were delicious) and there was the option to eat in the garden as well as the dining area. There are three restaurants connected to the hotel, we ate at the next door burger and also had a very strong cocktail in the Belfry.

Beautiful place. Great location. Friendly, helpful staff, but I especially appreciated the continental breakfast, but if you want something more substantial, just walk 2 doors down to a great little breakfast/lunch spot. Note that they have 3 different properties, we stayed in the beautiful Victorian next to the Abby. The restaurant in the Abby is very special.

Toilet was dirty upon arrival. Room was moved upon arrival to a “bigger” room. Great, right? But booked room had a fireplace. That is why I booked it!! No fireplace in “bigger” room.

Charming set of colocated buildings make up this Inn. I stayed in the Painted Lady building. The ceiling fan in my room did not work and I mentioned this to the owner. I think he just got busy and forgot to address it. Opening the windows helped keep it comfortable though. Note that the two restaurants on site were not open on Monday or Tuesday so dinner options must be found elsewhere. Luckily there are several decent restaurants within a few minutes drive.

It's always a great stay at the Belfry! The innkeeper is very friendly and helpful. I like walking down to the boardwalk and there's a few very nice shops nearby.

Such a great little Inn for a quick weekend getaway. Three restaurants to chose from and great food at all. Chris and family were super friendly and accommodating . Loved it!

The property has two unique buildings, a former church and a Victorian house. Properties and grounds are neatly kept and were decorated nicely for Christmas during my visit. Innkeeper was warm and accommodating.

Unser "Montags"Zimmer war sehr schön eingerichtet und der kleine Balkon mit Sonne am Nachmittag war prima. Das Frühstück hat ns auch gut gefallen. Der Inhaber hat uns sehr nett empfangen u d ei ige Tips gegeben. Das Bistro ist wirklich ein Feinschmeckerrestaurant. Wir dort das beste Essen in den USA gegessen. Nicht so toll war das duschen, weil wir dazu in eine Badewanne mit ca. 50cm breitem Rand klettern mussten. Es gab nichts zum festhalten. Ältere Menschen könnten Probleme haben in den Wanne zu kommen.

My Stay On Cape Cod

Pleasant place to safe. We were on the 3rd floor, no elevator! Bed was great, pillows not so much. Great A/C. House is pretty old, could use a little work. Breakfast was pretty basic.

An excellent and attractive inn in the heart of Sandwich, Massachusetts. We stayed in the building that was converted from a Catholic Church to an inn and restaurant. The food and service in the upscale restaurant were out standing. The room was well furnished and comfortable.

The Belfry Inn and Bistro was the most charming property we have ever stayed at. It was historic and quaint and close to everything we wished to visit. We celebrated our anniversary with the most delicious dinner at the Bistro, and our service was above and beyond. The room was comfortable, the bathroom VERY NICE! The only drawback was that it was a challenge to get our 2 larger pieces of luggage up the narrow winding staircase to our 3rd floor room. We would definitely stay here again!!!
