Stay in Gros to absorb its lifestyle in which time is measured by what you will do next.

Choose from a selection of activities, which are considerable with something to match most tastes. Zurriola Beach is a daily magnet for those who want to be sportive or just lie on the white sand and listen to the waves. One end of the beach attracts surfers and others to play beach games with even a possibility of some live music. The beach is bookended by a modern construction known as Kursaal Palace and Monte Ulia, a high outcropping of forested land.

Kursaal Palace is a contemporary building built in 1999 and the venue of many events, including the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Its modern design matches the vibrancy of this region. The mountain gives hikers an area for tranquility and provides a spectacular view of the beach and surroundings. Have a family outing as the 30-minute climb is not difficult and you’ll discover a children’s playground.

Go into town and walk the lively pedestrian streets and squares. Families will want to find Plaza Cataluña with its special area for children and shady areas for a picnic. You will immediately notice the frequency of bars and restaurants that make this locale very popular among young citizens and visitors. Thursdays attract the most interest because it’s pintxo-pote day when drinks and snacks are very reasonably priced.

Park your car in one of the main car parks and walk or bike, as areas of interest are located quite close to each other. If you come from San Sebastián, park on one side of Kursaal Bridge and walk over to Gros. You’ll soon be captured by the area’s youthful spirit that marks this neighborhood as the place to be in Spain’s Donostia region.
