It is in the heart of Old San Juan. Hard to find a place so convenient to walk in the city. Only thing bothering me is it is so hard to parking in holiday season. I didn't find anywhere as parking lots nearby are closed

I had high hopes for this hotel but left pretty disappointed. Let me start with the good. The staff was great! Everyone we interacted with were friendly and did their best to help during our stay. The beach towels and sunblock were a nice touch. The building itself is charming and has a lot of character. Now the cons. The presidential suite is so loud. Any noise from the street just radiates through the room. We didn't get any sleep. We were able to move to a different room due to the noise (which we were grateful), but ran into other issues. Very little warm water despite the room having two bathrooms and enough space to accommodate 6. We only had 4 people in our group and could not all shower in the same 2 hour window. The outlets in the downstairs bedroom kept going out (not able to charge a phone next to the bed and access the alarm or use blow dryers, etc). The mini split makes a loud obnoxious noise every 2 hours or so (maybe the pump). No way to get any sleep. The "complimentary coffee" between 6-10a included a mini travel size coffee maker to be shared by the entire building and was always empty. The general cleanliness of the floors and baseboards of the rooms could be better. Dishes in the cabinets were dirty. I really wanted to love this place. I've stayed in older hotels and expected flaws but not sleeping and showering comfortably impacted our whole vacation.

There are zero windows in this entire facility, it is so musky from wetness and mild you smell it as soon as you walk in. Our room had actual mold all over our ceiling, we stayed out of the hotel as long as possible, other than to go to sleep and we paid for a two bedroom suite. Staff was kind but I definitely would not recommend.

The room was very nice! Hot water, cold AC, quiet! Staff is nice and the location can’t be beat!! There are no USB ports in the room. Other than that, I was well satisfied and would certainly stay again!

There was no electricity and incorrect/misleading information as to when the electricity would be back on. The hotel does not have a generator, so no lights or air conditioning. When reserving, I upgraded our room, spending $300 for a night. The regular sized room was on the main floor behind the reception desk and had no windows (we only viewed it with a flashlight). Total waste of money. We ended up staying across the street at a hotel with a generator for $187. Skip Fortaleza Suites.

I was left (unpleasantly) shocked at the seeming disconnect between the Expedia ratings and what we found from our room and the hotel. We stayed in the San Sebastian suite and found the room to be in very poor and even unsafe condition. There were exposed electrical outlets near running water and at the height of our 3yr old. The kitchen cabinet front fell off, almost onto toes, with barely a touch, revealing a previous 'Command Strip' fix. The decorative topper on the stairs was stripped and only loosely placed in position. There were many areas throughout the room that demonstrated poor condition, care or attention to detail. The lighting was poor, with bulbs of various color and limited brightness, including fixtures without bulbs. There were numerous areas of exposed plumbing attachments that had been plugged, with little care to repair tile. Our communications to the staff, while received positively, resulted in only a fix to the outlet over the bathroom sink. Other 'amenities' were lacking and showed little active engagement by staff..... for example, the fresh/ice water container in the common area was shown to us on check in and the majority of the time was just empty, having received no attention from staff to fill. Overall, the property is in a great location but is plagued with poor condition and seeming apathy from staff to improve or actively provide for a good experience.

This hotel is everything as advertised. It is completely walkable to everything and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The only reason I gave four stars in some areas was because of the condition of the property. The rooms are interesting, no windows to the outside, but a lovely seating area just outside of the rooms. It’s an older building that’s been converted and I think they did a good job with it. It just is what it is. Our accommodation; the bed in the room itself was comfortable, and there was enough storage to put your things as well as slip your suitcase under the bed because it was high enough, so it was out of the way. But I spent a lot of time sitting in the cozy area outside my room rather than in the room when I wanted to relax. It was also very safe because it had a coded entry door.It was quite comfortable and did the job and it was certainly budget friendly for my intended purpose. I would stay there again!
