「Guatape is a gorgeous little town, and La Madriguera is a peaceful place to stay, with splendid views and warm service. You can easily walk to the center. A tuktuk from the square up the hill is 4000 COP ($1.10). Be sure to book a room with balcony. Beds are firm, sheets so soft. And the attached restaurant is simple but marvelous. Breakfast is included. I had dinner there twice. Staff speak some English, but a little Spanish is helpful. Hope I can return to kayak when there’s more water in...

「We kept to ourselves because we didn't realize there was a shared common room upstairs, however we realized as well that it wasn't open all the time since I think the owners prefer to be home, which makes sense! The place was clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the school, which some may not like, but it was great to see the town "alive" and bustling, even when it was raining! The host was SUPER sweet but spoke very little English, so we mostly conversed with his daughter who was great...
