"My stay at The Cove was generally positive, outside of the first night. I had hoped for a second floor room, but none were available. Yet, when I stepped into the room it was lovely. It was modern yet comfortable with nearly everything I needed. The bed was also very comfortable. (An extra blanket would have been nice, but thankfully I brought a small one of my own). The staff were friendly and fairly responsive. There was a bit of misunderstanding about the housekeeping and the system for communicating about it felt cumbersome. The first evening the upstairs guests were quite loud, and their footsteps heavy and disruptive well into the night. Also due to heavy winds that night, the door to the room rattled back and forth all night which was quite startling and made sleep very difficult. It is a motel-like set-up where you enter the room from the outside...a detail I either didn't notice or realize upon booking. The remaining three nights however, were quiet and peaceful and I slept much better. A couple of other suggestions: access to the ice machine would be helpful, especially for early morning departures and needing to keep remaining food cold for the day. Lastly, a microwave would also have been nice in the room. The Cove was a convenient spot, with easy access to nearby towns, food, and shopping. I enjoyed my stay, outside of the first night and would recommend with some caveats. "

"Did a 1 night stay with my partner in the off season. All the staff were very chill and friendly, the room we were in was nice- pretty basic, but clean and safe. And the room amenities (shampoo, soap, lotion, coffee+tea, etc.) were also nice. The continental breakfast was pretty average, no hot breakfast items besides the coffee/tea provided, but we’re not picky so it worked for us."

"First time visiting Salem & the Salem Inn did not disappoint! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would! It’s so cozy & cute & in a PERFECT location! All of the major sights to see are in a walkable distance as well as the train station if you need to go into to Boston. Another major plus was the breakfast included! Very delicious and the inn keeper could not have been any sweeter! We would definitely stay again in a heartbeat!"

"I stayed there with my husband and two small children. We were supposed to stay for two nights however the heat in our room was not working. We had mechanics come up twice to fix it, second time they replaced the whole unit and in the middle of the night it completely stopped working again. There was snow outside so you can imagine it was extremely cold. My son (4yrs) had a stuffy nose. The kids didn't sleep at all that night. We decided to cancel the second night. They said we would be refunded but I have not received it. This was during February vacation and it is now mid March. I've received no information and no response. Also to top it off we had our luggage plus our kids luggage and having no access to the second floor via elevator is so inconvenient! We had to go up stairs to the second floor with everything. Just seems odd for a family hotel. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. Very disappointed as Ive loved staying at the other doubletree locations. "
