It is essential to travel through the Douro and go to wine tastings and tours.
This was the point of my trip to Porto - to access the Douro River Valley. The valley was among the most beautiful places that I have ever seen in my entire life. Totally stunning and worth it! I drove and from above and below [along the river edge] everything is simply breathtaking.
Very far away so need to devote a whole day to seeing.
Will need to devote a whole day as it is far away.
Definitely walk the high bridge over to Gaia so you can take in the whole river and see the city of Porto
Wind was blowing too hard the day we planned on a river cruise. Go when you can, don’t put it off.

You can enjoy a tasting or tour at Quinta da Roêda Winery during your travels to Pinhao. Wander the riverfront in this relaxing area.
Explore the waterfront in Vale da Figueira with a trip to Ferradosa Dock.

Enjoy an outing to Park Douro Selvagem during your stay in Seixo de Ansiães. Amble around the area's riverfront or visit its monuments.
