I loved this hotel. It is quirky and stylish and, above all, comfortable. I had a lovely large room and to say it had a 'cathedral view' was an understatement. I couldn't see anything else - the cathedral is the other side of the road.
The staff were lovely. Friendly, efficient and helpful.
Plentiful restaurants are just around the corner.
I will undoubtedly stay there again if I am up that way in the future.
Fabulous location, great place steeped in history, friendly staff. Only downside was the pull out bed for the kids which was poor, shame as everything else was spot on.

Service was good staff friendly room clean but not very comfortable, the hotel itself was tired and in need of refurbishment which is a shame because it could be a special hotel

The character of the building . It is very tired and needs some money spending on it!!
Great stay at the Deanery with a perfect location across from the Cathedral and all the lovely local restaurants, was staying for business but would defiantly base out of here to see more that Yorkshire has to offer.

Lovely, but tired hotel. Staff very friendly. Only disappointment was lack of evening meal. Lovely position opposite cathedral in Ripon.
A hotel full of history and quirky rooms. The sloping bedroom floors and wonky doors are part of the charm of this lovely little hotel. The staff are very friendly and the cooked breakfast is one of the best I have ever had.

The carpet in the bedroom was stained in several places & in urgent need of a good clean or replacement.
Whilst in the main our stay was comfortable we felt the Hotel needed a bit of a face lift.
We loved our stay at the Old Deanery. Such a lovely location next to the cathedral and the garden was great for a drink in the evening. Would definitely stay again!
Fantastic 3 night stay while visiting family. Lovely room with great facilities and a view of the Minster. Staff were very friendly and breakfast delicious! Would definitely stay here again in the future and would recommend. Also great safety procedures in place during the COVID pandemic

Perfect location-5 minutes walk to restaurants etc! Stunning view of the garden willow trees. Parking right next to the hotel. However, the interior is very old and tatty. The walls are crumbling painted plaster and there are acres of beige carpets-up the stairs, along the corridors and into the rooms. Hardly practical with the footfall and the wheelie suitcases. They probably installed it to reduce noise transmission in this converted deanery. Our en-suite was the usual in a converted room-cramped (vertical coffin for a shower), no window and therefore a noisy extractor fan for ventilation. The bed was too soft and bouncy.
The cooked breakfast was good but no cereals or fruit.
The place needs a total refurbishment. It could be a beautiful hotel!
Most enjoyable stay in a great location enhanced by proximity to the Ripon cathedral and with a garden.
All members of staff including the manager were friendly, helpful and efficient.
Considerable care had been taken to ensure that all government coronavirus recommendations had been implemented and we felt safe and secure.
A served breakfast provided good choice and was well prepared.
What a lovely hotel, beautiful inside and a fabulous garden with a great big tree that the kids loved to play and explore. The staff were extremely attentive and professional. The breakfast was really good quality and served with no delay.
I can not recommend this hotel enough and I would stay again. Exceptional value
Interesting old building in friendly city with plenty of history .
Young efficient staff , very clean .
We felt social distancing and hygiene was achieved and enjoyed our stay .
Room surprisingly basic but pretty garden for morning coffee and afternoon teas .

Unexpected overnight stsy
Went for a family day out in Ripon and hadn't planned for an overnight stay but wanted to see more of the town and museums so were totally unprepared. Saw the Old Deanary on Hotels.com and spur of the moment booked it.
Very easy to find and staff friendly and helpful.
Grounds very nice and well maintained though weather meant we couldn't enjoy them to the fullest.
Breakfast was plentiful however there is no vegan choice.
Decor needs a little TLC but overall a pleasant stay.
This is a lovely building with lots of history to it, all explained in the folder in the rooms. My room was big with a massive mullioned window overlooking the cathedral across the road. I had a lovely en suite with lots of hot water. There is no lift but the staff carried my case for me when needed.
Very clean hotel, staff are excellent and very helpful. This is an old building and has character and charm. If you want straight walls and flat floors then stay at a Travelodge. The view of the cathedral from our room was excellent. We would stay here again.
The reception staff were charming and eager to oblige.
The garrett room had low ceiling height so that it was necessary to bend down in the shower to wash the head.
