"A good stay at the Aquila Porto Rethymno, with a good location and great sea views. The room was spacious and well-appointed with direct views over the beach and sea. Breakfast was good, with a solid range on offer. Lively location, central with easy walking access to the old town and harbour area."
"We were lucky enough to have booked a Mythica bungalow, and I couldn't recommend it enough. The private pool was cold but having the extra bit of privacy and somewhere quiet to relax with a perfect view of the beach and sea was wonderful. Being able to eat at the Eleftherna restaurant as many times as we wanted to due the plan we were on was fantastic and the highlight, with George and Syllas always looking after us! The spa and indoor pool were lovely, but when there were a couple days of rain it was full of children which disturbed the atmosphere. Also the indoor pool allegedly opens at 10am yet all the poolside loungers had gone by 9.55, I'm not sure why people were allowed to reserve like that. The outside at our bungalow would have been fine to sit at but there wasn't a solid roof covering, so everything was soaking which was a shame. Umbrellas or ponchos in the rooms would be a good idea, and just charge if they go missing like they do with the beach towels. All in all though it was fantastic, Maria was amazing and very helpful. We'd definitely like to return, but I did enjoy the quiet of the pre season and probably would prefer it to the busy period from mid May onwards! Just with more to do without noisy children around during the rainy days!"
"We had a room, two level with kitchen area and balcony. The aspect was away from the sea overlooking a small shopping street. This was good because it was quiet at night the rooms to the front would of been noisier with all the restaurants and bars overlooking the sea."
"The hotel is clean, had great vibe and interior design. Amenities include a small gym with good equipment and a yoga studio. Good was fantastic, great section for meat and non-meat eaters. Restaurant and bar staff very friendly and good service. Good selection of pools, just have to be up early for main pool ‘best’ beds, with canopies. Can’t fault the hotel but was disappointed with the reception service. We went for our honeymoon and pre-told the hotel. We weren’t given an upgrade like many couple we spoke to and like many reviews show. We actually were given a different room for the 1st night because our original room was broken. Meaning we had to move room the following morning and couldn’t unpack and relax the night of arrival. The room was bigger and reception made it sound like they were giving a complimentary upgrade (for 12 hours), though it was only because they had to and it actually gave us more inconvenience. As a ‘sorry’ we got given the same fruit platter and sparkling that we would have got anyway as it was our honeymoon. After that bad start the rest of the stay was lovely. "
"Great location to access the beach, lots of shopping, and lots of dining and drinking establishments. Very walkable. Lucked out and got street parking a couple blocks away the first day, but had to do pay parking at the marina the second day. Reception staff Alex extremely helpful with calling the lost and found at Heraklion airport to try and navigate my missing suit case, which was very much appreciated. Breakfast was ok, options for myself and my husband who are vegetarian. Young lady who manages the buffet appears to be very hardworking. Would return on future trips."
